Bumper stickers and RP signs, too. They're EVERYWHERE I travel.

Signs/bumper stickers for ANY other candidate are almost non-existent in comparison.

The American people are starving for a real political change--that was evident WAY back with Ross Perot's and Pat Buchanan's run.

We are getting FED up.

They are very of afraid of Ron Paul. Good.

And just where in the hell are Hillary, Barack, Rude, Mike, Romney, et. al. getting all those $MILLIONS in campaign money from???!!!???

It sure as hell ain't from individual American citizens: we have voted with our wallets and the clear winner is Ron Paul!

They are very of afraid of Ron Paul. Good.

The problem with the Paul campaign is its supporters. Most people want to back a "winner" at all costs; they don't understand what it means to run a marathon or what it is to vote your principles.

Watch for evaporation and people switching loyalties for 'instant gratification' - note that money is now flowing to Huckabee for this reason.

The lie of "You're wasting your vote!" is just that. Its a lie. The odds of your vote actually counting (read: deciding an election) is 8x10^50:1 against. You've got better odds of winning the lottery every day for a year than having your vote decide an election.

America is not at war. The military is at war. America is at the mall and the Congress is out to lunch.

I disagree with you. I think RP supporters are in for the long haul. They are not instant gratification fair weather people. Otherwise they would not have backed a dark horse to begin with. I think they/we will stick to the end with RP.

Huckster is now probably getting $ from lobbyists and corporate employees who didn't take him seriously before. They're just covering their bets now. These are not loyal supporters. They will throw $ around to whichever candidate pulls in first at the various state caucuses to build future relationships with the "finalists."

I cannot agree with that statement. I swam against the tide, supporting and voting for Goldwater.

Also I and TWENTY MILLION other voters voted for Perot KNOWING FULL WELL HE WOULD NOT WIN.

Welcome to 4um! From what rowdee said, you seem to be well informed about American politics and leading politicians. I look forward to reading your posts. You might want to educate us on issues of concern to Canadians. We need to get better informed about our northern neighbor, especially so if the North American Union is foisted on Canada, America, and Mexico. I think Mexico will be the only happy banana of the 3.

Let's clarify.

I see three different kinds of RP supporters.

There are those of us who are pissed off, fed up, and have had it.
There are those who want to "do something different" (and *may* flee)
There are those who want to jump on the "cool" bandwagon (and *will* flee)

America is not at war. The military is at war. America is at the mall and the Congress is out to lunch.

I'm still wanting to know why that went down as it did. The best I can figure, he wasn't quite ready for the microscope and threats that come with a presidential run.

Other people think it was a conspiracy to put Clinton into the White House. I haven't seen any evidence of that.

The Reform Party was a great idea. Its a shame it completely fell apart.

getting ...

"Banking was conceived in iniquity and was born in sin. The bankers own the earth. Take it away from them, but leave them the power to create money, and with the flick of the pen they will create enough deposits to buy it back again. However, take it away from them, and all the great fortunes like mine will disappear and they ought to disappear, for this would be a happier and better world to live in. But, if you wish to remain the slaves of bankers and pay the cost of your own slavery, let them continue to create money ." --- Josiah Stamp

After seeing the Paul Wellstone "plane crash" and the more recent Paul Gillmor (R OH) "death from "falling down the stairs" immediately after the both publically spoke against the war in Iraq, I don't doubt for a moment that Perot had credible threats levelled against his family. What would you do? What would Ron Paul do?

I think Paul being of sterner material than Perot and being older would stay the course, no matter what.

At Pauls age one has a different outlook on life, almost fatalistic if you will.

Hey hi. Spent a bit of time vacationing in the North Bay area...Lavigne and Lake Nosbonsing as well. Very much enjoyed the folks in Canada.

I have a funny story aboout how small the world is. When youngsters, (around 20+) my spouse and I lived in California and spent many days skinny dipping and nude bathing on the Yuba River in Nevada City, late 70's, early 80's. It was pretty out of the way. One day while we were there a few older canadian or british folk were hiking thru and were obviously surprised and embarrassed by us.

Fast forward 2001-2004. Up with the fam at a cabin in Lavigne (rural), the cabin renters got together for the final week meal and guess who was there. Yep, the now old folks who upon hearing that we had lived in CA, told us their story of hiking on the Yuba and seeing the nude bathers, with a tsking sound in their voice. We told them we remembered them! Good laugh all around.

Live free or die.

What a sense of humor.

Being older than Paul, I can tell you that with age, many fears are cast aside, and that what once mattered, no longer is significant.. One becomes more resolute, willing to take up a fight to the bitter end.

There will perhaps come a time in this election when to remove Paul would be a fatal mistake for the system.
