The Who, 1973, Mississippi River Festival. Everything else was downhill from there.

Can't really list them in order of preference, but here are some that stand out: 1. Rolling Stones/Journey/Santana/Molly Hatchet/Outlaws...all for 15 bucks...those were the good old days. Blue Oyster Cult/Black Oak Arkansas - World Tour '79 Grateful Dead - Long Beach Auditorium - 87

I've seen so many shows, I can never remember all the high points, but among the best are The Who, Boston Opera Hall, 1971 (Who's Next tour) Pink Floyd, Boston Orpheum, 1972, (Mainly Meddle, UmmaGumma and a few songs from Dark Side) David Bowie, some theater in Boston, 1973, Ziggy Stardust tour Wire, CBGB, 1977 Ramones, University of Conn., 1977 Velvet Underground, some dump in Revere Beach, 1969 The Kinks, Felt Forum, 1975 (Preservation Act I and II) John Cale w./ Lou Reed, Sterling Morrison and The Soldier String Quartet, NYU, 1989 John Cale, Double Door, Chicago, 2006 The Clash, Washington, DC 1978 Lou Reed, The Chicago Theater, 2002 The Mekons, CBGB, 1988 NY Dolls, KKKatys, Boston, 1973 Pere Ubu, The Abby, Chicago, 2006 Iggy and the Stooges, Kiss and Blue Oyster Cult, Academy of Music, 1973 Bob Dylan, Rolling Thunder Revue, Hartford, 1975 Heartbreakers/Ramones, Max's Kansas City, 1977 Cramps/Dead Boys, CBGB, 1977 Jefferson Airplane, It's a Beautiful Day, University of NH, 1970

Yikes this is a tough one. One of my worst was one of my best. Had nosebleed seats to see Charlie Daniels in 1977 or 78 at the Commack Arena, half behind the stage. Sound was so awful I left after about half hour. However, Suzie Welzel performed some of her magic on me before we left, and we made good use of the time spent waiting in the car for our friends to come out. ;) But the top would be: 1) The Band (Minus Robbie, plus Paul Butterfield) at The Getaway, Woodstock, NY sometime in 84. 2) Frank Zappa at the Palladium, NYC 10/29/77 3) Neil Young at the Nassau Coliseum, LI NY 9/29/78 4) The Outlaws at the Suffolk Forum (Commack Arena) LI NY 5/26/78 5) Yes at the Nassau Colliseum, LI NY Circa 1979 6) Paul McCartney at Foxborow Staduim, MA Circa 1993 7) Crosby Still and Nash at the Jones Beach Theater, LI NY 1984 8) Neil Young at the Jones Beach Theater, LI NY 9/9/84 9) Elton John at Meadows Music Center Hartford, CT Circa 1994 10) Little Feat at Lake Compounce, Bristol, CT Circa 1990. The Band at the Getaway is number one for a lot of reasons. First, I love The Band. Second it was a small place,. maybe 100 or so people, and we all danced up a storm and had a great time. Third, me and Rick Danko drank shots and beers at the bar during intermission. :) Sugar Megs is a great source for live concert recordings. I've been to two Blue Oyster Cult shows and only saw them do one song each time. Both times it was the encore and both times it was Don't Fear the Reaper. lmao! Both times I had to get up early, work my ass off for a long day, race home, shower, change, race out get to the show, drink beer on the way, smoke a joint before the warm up band, fall asleep during intermission. I don't know many folks that can sleep through a B O C show, but I can. People wonder why I sometimes don't hear my alarm clock. hehehe

I am a big Hatchet and Outlaws fan. I saw them whenever and wherever I could. I did get to see Hatchet and Skynard at Hawgs of Texas a couple of years ago outside Austin at some state park.

best and worst concert I ever went to was the beatles at d.c. stadium in 1966. worst, because you couldn't hear a thing with all the screaming. best, because it was the beatles!!!
I spent 4 years on a Tin Can with my bunk on the other side of the Bulkhead from the hydraulic motor for a 5 Inch 54 Gun Mount. It took me 2 years to be able to do it, but I got to where I could sleep through the mount being rotated at the changing of the Watch. Now it takes a Court Order to wake me up once I'm asleep.

Make that two of us. I've seen them three times, twice because I was there for Iggy and the Stooges and once because I was there for John Cale and Patti Smith. They aren't bad, per se, just really, really tedious. Not like Styx or something, a band I had to suffer through to see the Kinks one time.

That's why that Calderone Outlaws show is listed in my best list. They did a 7 orgasm version Green Grass at the end. It was awesome! Edited to add: Oh shit, I left out the Calderone show from my list. lol

I also like their version of "Ghost Riders in The Sky". Of course that song brings back memories from the weekend Jam Sessions my Dad and Uncle used to put on - my Dad on the Steel and my Uncle Ed on the Git Box. Damn! I sure wish I hadn't sold of the Steel Guitar now - the thing is probably worth a "Mint" as a collector's item - it had belonged to the Steel Guitar Player for the "Royal Hawaiians" - my Dad bought it off him when he was down on his luck.

If you ever are so inclined you might want to listen to "ME-262" and "Fire of Unknown Origin". "Veteran of the Psychic Wars" was a pretty cool tune. Ever hear of the "Seabird Band"?

Can't say I have. Any good? Actually, yes. Charlie Daniels did a write up for the back cover of their first Album, which I have, and the Album was pretty good. As far as I know they never really made the big time but they were pretty tight. Think "Outlaws" but a little bit more introspective.

3) Boston, 1976 - supporting first album. I was 11, and left to my own devices amid large standing crowd. They were able to reproduce the sound of the album perfectly, it was a real eye-opening event.
4) Santana, 1998 or so, the drummer wrote a whole new page of existance that night.
5) Neil Young - Trans tour. Glad I wasn't taking amphetamines when I saw that one, wink wink, nudge nudge.
