What hasn't been diaried yet, as far as I can see, is that Kristol's column includes a major blunder and he has been called on it by none other than wingnut extraordinaire Michelle Malkin. Midway through his drivel of a column, where he kinda gives some compliments to Mike Huckabee, but in a backhanded and snotty kinda way, Kristol quotes the "conservative writer Michelle Malkin" as saying, "For the work-hard-to-get-ahead strivers who represent the heart and soul of the G.O.P., there are obvious, powerful points of identification." The only problem is that Malkin never made such a statement, as she pointed out today on her mind-numbing blog (which I am loathe to link to): The equally mind-numbing Medved made the statement in a column he wrote earlier this month for townhall.com, as Malkin points out. Oopsy. Looks like Kristol needs to go back and take Journalism 101 again. If he can't even manage to give the correct source for a quote from one of his wingnut cronies, what hope is there that he's going to get anything right when he writes about people a bit further to the left? Answer: zilch. What an embarrassment for the New York Times. While the country is moving further to the left, the fading Grey Lady is sinking further into the right-wing mire. At least there's still the crossword puzzle! (H/T to Greg Mitchell, whose blog appears to have been the first to report on this blunder.)
