ABC News' Karen Travers Reports: New Hampshire Deputy Secretary of State Dave Scanlan told ABC News that turnout among primary voters today is "absolutely huge" -- and there are concerns about running out of ballots in towns like Portsmouth, Keene, Hudson and Pelham. "Turnout is absolutely huge and towns are starting to get concerned that they may not have enough ballots," Scanlan said. "We are working on those issues. Everything else seems to be going smoothly." Scanlan said that the Secretary of State's office is sending additional ballots to Portsmouth and Keene (traditionally Democratic strongholds), Hudson (Republican leaning with significant numbers of independents) and Pelham (large number of independents). According to Scanlan, the ballot strain seems to be on Democratic ballots, which suggests that the undeclared voters are breaking for the Democratic primary. New Hampshire Secretary of State William Gardner predicted that 90,000 undeclared voters would vote in the Democratic primary compared to 60,000 voting in the Republican primary. Deputy Secretary Scanlan said based on a formula anticipating higher turnout, they printed additional ballots, but in most cases towns will go "right down to the wire with ballots they need." The extra ballots will be insurance ballots in most places so election officials have a comfort level. Scanlan said reports from polling places show that turnout has been steady and high though the morning but typically high activity periods will be lunch and after work.

On the Dem side of this, I think this 'show' may be intended to keep the Dems on the Dem plantation. It doesn't really matter which one. If they are engaged in their own 'party' politics, the less they might be exposed to RP's message. We shall see what they have in store for us!

Join the Ron Paul Revolution Indeed. I find the miraculous reaction to Obama and Huckabee (and, of course our man RP) to be enormously encouraging. It's a quite lovely repudiation of the the last two decades of Washington treason. Don't lose your cool folks. Our champion will arise. Try thinking of Ron as John the Baptist. Be thankful that we just might be delivered from Juliannie vs. Hitlery in 2008.

If Huckabee did by some fluke win the NH primary, I think he probably would end up getting the nomination. As it is, even granted the probability that he's coming in third at best in NH, I wouldn't rule out his chances of being nominated.

It doesn't look good. I wonder how long Paul can stay in. It looks like a heinz57 where the GOP may have 3 candidates very close for quite awhile. I think when this shakes down, Paul will have more say on certain things in congress. Some of the bills he will bring up, may have more favor with the DEM majority that congress will be.

I'm watching the NH election results from the UK (Edinburgh) this evening -- streaming MSNBC and watching SKY News. Sky News just lead their midnight coverage with Exit Poll results of the NH Primary. According the Sky News, the exit polls are as follows: Democrats: Obama 41; Clinton 29; Edwards 16 Republicans: McCain 33.5; Romney 32.5; Huckabee 12 by CDinBoston on Tue Jan 08, 2008 at 04:08:07 PM PST Reported on Daily Kos thread. If these figures are accurate, I think it means Ron Paul has a fourth-place finish at best.

It appears those earlier numbers on SKY News were an average of the pre- primary polling. Now there are these new exit poll numbers on the same Daily Kos thread. Hillary doing much better, very small Obama lead. Ron Paul in fourth place. He could even still pull out third place, I suppose.

Ron Paul radio announcers are saying Dr. Paul is in the high teens, I'm not sure if these are exit polls or what. Here's an online poll ... politico.com constantly updates. Paul at 7.93% with 5.98% reporting. Clinton doing much better than expected. Now in lead at 36.8% with 6.64% reporting. If she pulls this out, it will really look stolen.

Actually, it's 8% of the precincts, not the vote. The smaller precincts finish earlier.

;P I was helping on the phones, or trying to, at a Ron Paul Meetup event last week, for the Iowa count. We discussed this while anxiously waiting. The count did not go as expected, the calls with the tallies did not come in. Very strange.

If you wanted to siphon off votes from a Republican Candidate, oh, say, Ron Paul, and wanted to make it less obvious then you could, in a State like New Hampshire that allows Independents to vote either way, shift those votes to the Democrat Candidates and say "they voted Democrat". Of course I expect fraud as they do it whenever they need to throw the election to one candidate or another. My guess would be that Hitlery will be the beneficiary of "the surge".
