If Paul can pull 10% in a Republican primary with the goob foolers aligned against him, I think he would actually have a chance as an independent. It's too bad he isn't considering this. There's a good chance it's going to come down to Hillary vs McCain. Hillary's not going to pull away goobs conditioned to hate Hillary on command no matter how much they dislike the war. Paul could pull from both sides.
It is time that he gives it serious consideration. Fact of the matter is, RP will never get the GOP nomination for President.
If Ron is only getting 10% of the R votes in an open primary, what's that say about his chances in winning as an independent? Not good, I'd say. A lot of people have woken up to liberty with Ron Paul's campaign. Very encouraging but even so, there are still tons of dufuses out there who are sick of the war in Iraq and are now working hard bomb Iran.
Very little but I didn't want to be so blunt and not give some hope. Ron Paul will never be President of these United States. Sorry but it 'is what it is'. I was one of the first to 'lock on' to RP back some 2 years ago and initiated the ping list on this forum around that time. I'm disappointed but there is only so much one can do before they have to except reality. I would love to be wrong and have all of you 'shove this post down my throat', indeed.
well said....and you are far from alone in this sentiment.
we can hash out the reasons for this and that til the cows come home. all we need to know, and it's certain, is that the people's votes and wishes will never be known. the sooner we all accept that, the better. remember that the majority of americans are anti-war but it matters not. having said that, like Brian, i'll be happy if y'all are able to shove this post down my throat.

I totally agree. It was nice while it lasted, and it's rather sad that there are so few of us that loved it enough to try to keep it alive. Looks like the fluoridation, mercury in vaccines, neurotoxins in food via additives and pesticides, along with constant brain-washing by the "media" worked.

That could be. It could also be a flock of old goobers that swallow every lie they hear on TV, and simply vote for whomever their local newspaper editor tells them to. One thing about McCain though is that he was actually having live Town Hall meetings across the state, unlike Ron Paul who didn't really have any as far as I know, except for the one on Sunday night in Manchester.

The whole world is watching to see what Americans are going to do about it.
I'm not buying this "fishy" business. Older people from the north may simply not like Ron Paul's anti-New Deal stance, or his "bring all the troops home" message. This should not surprise us too much. The media's dislike for Ron Paul is easily all it takes to keep him from getting elected, since we literally learn all we know about candidates through media sources. They vary some, but 90% have either ignored Ron Paul or have shown massive prejudice against him. The real conspiracy here is in control of the media, and control over education. Pro-government state-funded education is an impact on these people that can last for a lifetime. We're a unique bunch for liking Ron Paul. We are trying to change minds through our own medium, but it's still not the primary source of news for every major voting bloc. Don't give up yet, though. Ron Paul can taste victory. He will have his chance yet to reach through the cobwebs of prejudice and ignorance. We're going to have to help him offline, though. An MSNBC exit poll follows. I include a highlight on Ron Paul supporters lower gun ownership in order to show that McCain voters are actually more traditional in some ways. Some Ron Paul voters are clearly just voting to stop the war in Iraq, and are greens or pacifists. This is GOOD. I welcome anyone's support for Ron Paul, left or right. But you can see that McCain speaks to traditional people (I've witnessed this myself, although I get hoarse trying to prove them wrong).
buck... I think it is much simpler than that. There is a sad lack of name recognition. I speak to so many people that have NEVER heard of Ron Paul that you wonder where they have been living. That is a fact, it has nothing to do with his message or Paul. War, taxes etc etc means nothing if you have never heard of the man.
Well I agree with you to a point, but older New Dealers will not like his message, when they do hear it. It didn't take election fraud to deliver NH to Clinton and McCain. Voter recognition and voter acceptance of Ron Paul's message needs to happen offline now. We've tried to make our point online here that the campaign should simplify and use traditional advertising. Whole markets may be closed to his message at any price. To give you an idea how expensive premium advertising is, $20 million is pocket change. Consider that Superbowl advertising is about $2.4 million a whack, as of 2005. Think about that. It takes billions to make the minds of Americans change. And there are billions being spent in overt and tacit, long-haul ways, to elect other candidates to protect the status quo.
People here are already waving the white flag. Hillary we will have.
Many think that's already been determined, well before now. With RP's showing in probably the most Libertarian state in the Union, and with the hatred most feel towards Republicans (aka neocons), especially when looking at the vote totals, it's pretty much a given that there's no way in hell a Republican will be elected president this election.
With Paul supporters already waving the white flag, there is only one alternative if he is indeed serious and that is to go third party.
I'll continue to support RP, but my hopes for him getting the nomination are strongly diminshed. As you say, his only hope I think is to run 3rd party, but the chances of that working out are slim.

Many years ago, it was foretold by economists that a massive generation gap would emerge. It is happening now. The youth know that we older people are going to cost them given our present system of entitlements. This is a form of slavery they see coming, and they are right to vote against it. Older people should recognize its inherent unfairness, as well. This may need to be spoken to reach the generation that voted for Mccain and Clinton in NH.
And now for the bad news about the "new generation" at least in NH - a poster here said the college students in NH had picked Rudy Giuliani as their favorite GOPer in poll. I'm not sure if the poll was reflected in how the votes went tonight in NH college towns.

I'm stunned. Indeed. I am equally stunned by Hillary's amazing 180 over Obama. Furthermore, I'm stunned by the massive "turnout" of Democrat voters. Both occurring in a state generally considered to be more conservative than Iowa. I quite seriously believe that many of these Hillary voters were switchover Republicrats who believe Hillary is the most beatable in the final go round. These are the masses of voters who live and die by casting their lesser-of-two-evils vote every four years. I call them the Superbowl voters who treat politics as some kind of mindless our "team" must win at any cost woodenheads. American politics has become so full of such inanities that we face tremendous obstacles in our crusade for a return to a sane political arena. Oh well, only fools thought this was going to be easy.

I posted on this thread till late at night last night
I fell asleep instant head hit pillow
and instantly I dreamt I was in a big room where everyone was wildly cheering
and jumping uo and down, because our team won the game
some sports game
but when I opened my eyes to interpret the dream it hit me in the face
"our team won!" -- it is referring to our team behind Ron Paul
if he had actually gotten 8 per cent, it would not be encouraging
but if he got 18 percent it is very encouraging
it means Ron Paul came in third
which I think is exactly what happened
which isn't that hard to find out
they can easily find out how many Meet Up members are in each town
how many people contributed money in each town
and between the two of them compile a solid list of Ron Paul voters
and compare it to the vote tally for that town
Iowa had honest election
what he polled at in New Hampshire, he got half
