I know this was grass-roots all the way

If RP's staff doesn't wake up or shake up, the money will dry up. Two months of freezing your butt off for a Keystone Cop run campaign, hardly sustains and builds further on a grassroot base. Some of which as we know, quit their jobs, to devote to RP's success. Voter fraud was a known threat already, so I am hoping some went in with open eyes. However, Ron's staff appears to be comprimised and heads must roll.

I am equally stunned by Hillary's amazing 180 over Obama. Furthermore, I'm stunned by the massive "turnout" of Democrat voters. Both occurring in a state generally considered to be more conservative than Iowa.

I perceived NH to be the same way as you, iconoclast, but we were both wrong. The demographics of the state has changed and along with it came a change in the state's politics.

There are more nanny state benefit dependents than independents in NH and they all came out to vote for the candidate who will most likely continue to deliver or enhance their bennies.

I found this analysis quite telling:

www. cbsnews.com/stories/2...olitics/main3689566.shtml

"Why Clinton Won: Women, Labor Households And Low-Income Voters Bring N.Y. Senator N.H. Victory"

...Clinton held her own among late deciders, beating back the Obama surge and winning courtesy of a significant Granite State gender gap and support from other traditional wings of the Democratic Party.

The Coalitions

New Hampshire women went big for Clinton, supporting her 46 percent to 34 percent for Obama. And as 57 percent of the Democratic primary electorate, women were enough to make the difference. Among men, Obama turned the tables, beating Clinton 40 percent to 29 percent. In third place, John Edwards received 19 percent of the male vote and 15 percent of women's votes.

Clinton pulled together a traditional coalition of Democratic voters for this victory - labor households, voters with relatively low incomes and education, and, of course, women.

Union households, which make up one-fifth of the New Hampshire Democratic primary electorate, voted for Clinton 40 percent to 31 percent for Obama. Among voters with household incomes less than $50,000 a year, Clinton beat Obama by 15 points, and by 18 points among those with no more than a high school diploma.

Similarly, Clinton won the votes of self-described Democrats in this open party primary state. Among those who typically consider themselves Democrats she won 45 percent of the vote to 34 percent for Obama.

For Obama, the generation of new and young voters that propelled him to victory in the Iowa caucuses last week was not there in New Hampshire. While Obama won nearly half of voters who had never voted in a primary election before, these voters made up only 19 percent of the primary electorate.

And while Obama beat Clinton by 60 percent to 22 percent among the youngest voters - those 18 to 24 years old - his advantage among other voters under 40 was much slimmer than seen in Iowa.

Obama did win the independent vote in New Hampshire. He beat Clinton among those considering themselves independents by 10 points - 41 to 31 percent. The rest of Obama's support base in New Hampshire came from the more elite elements of the Democratic electorate. He won the vote of those in households making more than $100,000 a year 41 percent to 36 percent for Clinton. And he won voters with advanced educational degrees by 12 points.

Clinton stemmed the Obama tide in the last three days of the campaign in New Hampshire. While Clinton trailed by 15 points among voters who decided their vote sometime last week, she split the late-breaking vote with Obama- 36 percent and 37 percent respectively..."

Also regarding the number of Dem vs GOP voters that turned out as a whole...

from daily kos last night using CNN statistics:

280,000 people voted for Democrats, 220,000 for Republicans.

In 2000, turnout looked like this:

Repub.: 238,606 Democratic: 154,639

Repubs lost ~20,000 voters while Dems damn near doubled!

the 280k is a Dem primary record (up from 220k in '04), the 220k down from ~238k when McCain ran in 2000.

I am equally stunned by Hillary's amazing 180 over Obama. Furthermore, I'm stunned by the massive "turnout" of Democrat voters. Both occurring in a state generally considered to be more conservative than Iowa.

This reminds me of the "New Square Four" as written about by Barbara Olson in her book The Final Days. It was relative to an 11th hour pardon by Bill to deliver a win for Hillary's Senate race.

I'll have to dig through it, but I believe there was a powerful precinct that voted 100% for Hillary.

Also, this brings back memories of the Marc Rich money, and the shenanigans of Hugh Rodham.

I still don't believe Barbara made that call from the airline before the 'plane' hit the Pentagon.

I remember after Olson's death, they tried to stopy Regnery from publishing her book.

Checking Amazon quickly, it's out of print.

I think you're fooling yourself if you beleve you'll get that many shots on target when it's all on the line. There are plenty of accounts of several 9mm rounds on target failing to stop assailants. The reason .45, .44, .40, 10mm are favored is that one shot puts them down. Same with a 12 gauge. But don't just take my word - check around.

I've decided to "suck it up" about the vote fraud in New Hampshire
the worst thing which could happen is for the campaign to lose momentum
it is on to South Carolina now!!!!
I am looking forward to the FOX SC debate tomorrow, Ron Paul will be there

altho New Hampshire Ron Paul voters shoould look into why their votes were not tallied

Can RP do that? Can he play National Politics??

However, Ron's staff appears to be compromised and heads must roll.

I'm not sure what this means?
His staff is amateurish, compromised usually means working for the enemy

I see no evidence of that

Altho if there had been honest counting of votes in NH, and Ron Paul had pulled in 18 percent and come in third
none of the errors of the campaign staff would have come to light
they have to do their best to be on the ball now

I actually think he should use his big dough to assemble the best campaign staff money can buy
but that is not his way

I think it will work out OK
but I too don't think people will rush to open their wallets again till they see their money spent wisely and well

That debate on FOX tomorrow is important debate
I will be praying hard for Ron Paul all thru it, so be prepared to give me objective report when debate is over
I will go right on the thread about it here
I love it that he behaves like a gentleman, it does him credit
So I am not concerned if the others are aggressive, and he is not
Also since immigration is not an issue for me, you don't have to report to me what he says on that
I am interested in what he says about foreign policy and liberty
and about getting rid of income tax and inflation tax
I already know his positions on all these things, I just want to know what he said in debate

Eventually it will be on YouTube everything he says
so all I need to know from you are a few basic impressions of what he said
just so I get the idea

Thanks a million

Fingers crossed and prayers in for the debate and for the Primary

my sweet love, for me the Constitution and Rule of Law is my whole life
that is what matters to me
I am doing all this to save our Constitution, and to save our country from police state

of course I love the trees and the animals
and will do anything to save them
but the Greens have taken away a lot of liberties
and I love liberty

I am a libertarian, first last and always
but a compassionate libertarian
let the government lend a helping hand to those who need it

Love, Palo

I only wrote one piece on Ron Paul, the day he announced his candidacy
I was on LP then, and everyone on the thread said he doesn't have a chance
so I gave my reasons why he will win
I wrote it to overcome their defeatism
plus to explain the necessity of him winning

I posted it on LP under blogs, I will copy it here below

Why Ron Paul will win the Presidency (by Palo Verde)
Jan 16, 2007

I don't think in any past election Ron Paul could have won
I don't see how in this election he can fail to win
We all know government is not working, that something is wrong
All the fights are about apportioning blame
We don't all agree on who has decent character and is mistaken
and who is deliberately responsible for the corruption
The beauty of a Ron Paul Presidency is he is the solution to the problem
he is a good man who will take our country in the right direction

I submit that the source of most of our problems is that military industrial complex now determines foreign policy in DC
and both Parties are in bed with the military industrial complex
Ron Paul, practically alone in Congress, stands up to the military industrial complex
he, practically alone, does not vote for what they want

Anyone who wants our soldiers home with their families would vote for Ron Paul
because the Dems demagogue they are against the war
but meanwhile continue to vote the funding for it
Wars continue as long as they are funded
they stop on the dime when there is no more funding

Anyone who wants no more wars started for frivolous reasons
would vote for Ron Paul
He is a Constitutionalist
Congress would have to declare war before he would go along with it

And he would never use the Presidency as propaganda campaign for war which is not necessary

Ron Paul voted against the Patriot Act
again he is almost alone in this
He claims the reason so many in Congress enthusiastically endorsed the Patriot Act is because so many in Congress
wanted for long time to take away rights and liberties from citizens
9/11 and Patriot Act was their excuse

And there may be truth to that
It was generally assumed it was heat of the moment,
which caused Congress to overwhelmingly pass the Patriot Act without reading it
but heat of the moment is over, Patriot Act is still with us
so Congress wants it

By the grace of God, the Patriot Act has not been abused to the extent it could be
but it is a dangerous law to have on the books
and should very unscrupulous people ascend to power
or get the ear of power, citizens could really be cooked

Ron Paul did the right thing to put the Constitution and the Bill of Rights first
even in the heat of the moment
he did this because he has a passion for liberty for our citizens
this is a man we want in the White House

Anyone who wants the Constitution upheld first last and always
would vote for Ron Paul

Ron Paul explains Congress serves special interests, not the interests of citizens
And this is true

It is time we have a President who serves our interests, not special interests

The military industrial establishment now owns both parties and the media
They will not allow Ron Paul to be our President
But by a miracle of God, we still have free elections
and citizens will choose Ron Paul

Love, Palo

Your own posts are excellent
I rejoined LP because of reading your posts, while I lurked there
altho I did not stay that long, as you know

I honestly can't think of anything you and I can do differently or better than what we are doing
I read many posters here who have such constructive excellent suggestions for Ron Paul's campaign people
they have talent for that kind of thinking
I don't

reading so many great posts, here and when I was on LP
I see we all have different talents for what we offer

my best talent I think, is refusing to get discouraged
I am always convinced the light is out there, if I search for it
altho half the time, while I am searching for it, some other poster comes on and gives the reason for it
this is helpful for me, because it encourages me

I am not positive I am that good at finding the light, I am OK at it
but my talent is I won't be budged, in wanting to find the light, and knowing it is there
your talent of course is your brilliance, which I am nowhere near
but I find it thrilling, plus it so filled with communication

from what I have seen of Ron Paul posters here, on LP, and Digg is we each have our unique gift to give

this is something else which makes me so sure Ron Paul will win
look at the great number of citizens now, who are using their mind for Ron Paul

there is so much mind power behind him

no other candidate has this

mind power is a very strong light
and I just don't think anything false can stand up to that light

Love, Palo

Although the Huckster is a bornagainrapturenutterRINO with no conservative positions, no particular message, I can understand why he is the most attractive of the GOPer's and RP may want to pay heed - Huckabee is very personable, he is very relaxed and he has a nice sense of humor and a nice smile big dimples - I saw him interviewed by Jay Leno and by Craig Ferguson and both times Huckabee did remarkably well. I found myself smiling along whenever he made some corny small jokes before I caught myself doing so! Then I smacked my forehead - sheesh - scrapper, that's the Huckster, smarten up!

Although Dr. Paul has a terrific message and a common sense constitutionally based platform, he's so tense, so tight, so wanting to do well, you can sense that he's trying hard to appear light and easy - he forces himself to make some jokes and although he's always the articulate gentleman, RP is not telegenic - Huckster is like a big cuddly puppy dog - people forget the Huckster has no message and no platform because he makes them feel so calm and relaxed and warm and fuzzy in his presence. Huckster is a lawyer by trade and also a minister so public speaking is second nature to him. But Dr. Paul, as a physician, never needed to learn the art of public speaking- his profession typically demanded that he be proficient in one on one communication skills either with his patients or in conferring with his colleagues or fellows or residents - also the language used in medicine is very linear, scientific, brief, to the point - now Dr. Paul is swimming with the sharks, most of whom are lawyers and experienced in public speaking - and he's struggling to project a relaxed persona but at the same time he wants to deliver his message in an understandable format to laymen. He's not able to use the communication style or skills or vocabulary he used in medicine - he's addressing a different public at large. Even as a Congressman, he did not face the public speaking challenges that he faces now competing as a Pres candidate in the national theatre.

I think it would help alot if Dr. Paul got some intensive lessons on public speaking from a voice coach - it wouldn't take much coaching - he's a very bright guy -but nonetheless I think it could be very useful so he gains some self confidence and learns how to project light and easy and happy while he is delivering the RP message. Basically, RP needs to become more telegenic and in short order so people remember him and his message.

Sort of...ha, ha...

However in RP's case, he isn't delivering BS - his message is good and true - but he needs to learn the art of schmoozing a) to get the public's attention, b) to have them like him so they let themselves be open to listening to his message and c) finally, to remember him when it's time for them to cast their ballots. He needs to reach out to the undecided, the fence sitters. RP needs to make himself as personally memorable as his platform.

We only need to look at the lessons being taught re: Huckabee's popularity - he has hardly any $ and he's holding his own with candidates with huge war chests like Romney and Giuliani. Ditto for inexperienced Obama coming out of nowhere to challenge Hillary, the almost coronated Queen. Hillary is neither likeable or personable. Ditto for Romney. Both are polished but cold. Huckabee and Obama come across as "nice guys." That's what the public wants - someone they can relate to, someone who puts them at ease, someone they could invite over for Sunday pot roast and not feel pressed to have the fine china and silverware on the table.

Tooooo late. Paul is near my age and it is too late.

Your assessment is totally correct but Paul and his supporters will have to proceed as is. Time is now our enemy. Your thinking is why I suggested he pick a VP now, younger, good orator and turn him loose across the country, Napalitano comes to mind as an example.

The message is the important segment not the looks and presentation of the messenger but alas that is how people vote.

Cynicom - smart people are quick studies - and Dr. Paul is very very smart. I think it depends how motivated RP is to WIN. To win he absolutely needs to become a student again and be taught some new tricks - after all these years of being in a position of power first as an MD and then as a Congressman -learning the art of schmoozing from a voice coach likely a younger person with much less academic credentials than he has might take some humility and flexibility.

However, if he made up his mind to submit to being coached, I'll bet it wouldn't take more than a couple of lessons in the course of a 2 week period - the lessons and a few trial runs and then corrective actions and RP would be up and away.

Cyni - Hollywood takes strangers off the street with no acting experience at all - they want a new face and they give them a few lessons and turn them loose in front of cameras and build multi-million dollar films around them. RP can do it if he wants to. Waiting until RP gets a VP mate to do the telegenic delivery stuff will be way too late.

I do not call for waiting..

You recall on Leno the question about a running mate from the pub losers.

Can you imagine Paul tomorrow morning calling a press conference and dragging out Napolitano???? Or some such known person.

Sadly Paul has the usual expert slicks that always attach themselves to politicians surrounding him. Their primary message is "send money", so far they have succeeded with that but without change the tap will be turned off.

Back when, my Browning Challenger taught me about the correct positioning of my hands when rounds were being chambered - I can still see the scar on the top of my thumb 40+ years later.

LOL.

I took my concealed-carry class with a Walther PPK and got my hand chewed up quite a bit with that one, too. Now I carry a Colt Double Eagle with a nice beavertail, so no more problems.

Shut your whore mouth, Mr. President.

we just have to decide how we will intelligently deal with vote fraud in the future

What suggestions do you have?

I don't think a guy like Judge Napolitano or anyone who's good is going to risk his day job contract and reputation to sign on with RP at this stage of the game. Way too early.

I would agree with you that ongoing calls for donations without good primary results in hand is going to get old soon. He's got to start spending $ on classy ads to up his results in the primaries and he needs to start now.

When Paul is the lowest man on the totem pole and forecast to lose by everyone, thinking within constrictions of the usual campaign will surely guarantee the predicted loss.

If Paul were to pick a VP, tell everyone he is in regardless of party, he now becomes a huge problem for the republicans that have done their best to marginalize and insult him. He now becomes a force to reckon with for everyone.

Perots 20 million votes could easily be Pauls 30 million and a voice in the future of this country.

Personally I prefer voting for an honorable predicted loser than staying home.

If RP could get 'Da Judge to commit at this stage of the campaign ( here come da judge, here come da judge, da judge is here! ) then I agree with you a special press conference convened to make the announcement re: such a quality guy on the RP ticket would pump up interest in Dr. Paul BIGTIME.

Even with the Judge's committment and ok to make an announcement, I'm not sure if it would violate party protocol - remember that all these GOP candidates are still competing still for the top spot and I'm not sure if any of them has the right to haul off and make pre-emptive announcements about their VP selection while the competition is still going on. Maybe others might know if a VP announcement can be made by a candidate before the Party's Pres candidate winner is determined.

I wrote this..." If Paul were to pick a VP, tell everyone he is in regardless of party,"...

With regardless of party being the operative hint...

Also I was using Napalitano as an example, there are others. No one knows who might come out of the woodwork. Paul owes "party" nothing, zero, nada. They have done nothing for him and in fact have done their best to destroy him.

When others are shooting holes in your canoe, you need a bigger paddle.
