BAGHDAD - The U.S. military says nine soldiers are dead - two days into a new campaign against al-Qaida in Iraq. The new U.S. drive is aimed at killing al-Qaida fighters holed up in districts north of Baghdad, the Iraqi capital. The military says six soldiers were killed and four were wounded today in a booby-trapped house in Diyala province.
It says another three U.S. soldiers were killed and two were wounded Tuesday in an attack in Salahuddin province.
The new U.S. operation began on Tuesday.
