Kucinich Asks for New Hampshire Recount in the Interest of Election Integrity

DETROIT--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Democratic Presidential candidate Dennis Kucinich, the most outspoken advocate in the Presidential field and in Congress for election integrity, paper-ballot elections, and campaign finance reform, has sent a letter to the New Hampshire Secretary of State asking for a recount of Tuesdays election because of unexplained disparities between hand-counted ballots and machine-counted ballots.

I am not making this request in the expectation that a recount will significantly affect the number of votes that were cast on my behalf, Kucinich stressed in a letter to Secretary of State William M. Gardner. But, Serious and credible reports, allegations, and rumors have surfaced in the past few daysIt is imperative that these questions be addressed in the interest of public confidence in the integrity of the election process and the election machinery not just in New Hampshire, but in every other state that conducts a primary election.

He added, Ever since the 2000 election and even before the American people have been losing faith in the belief that their votes were actually counted. This recount isnt about who won 39% of 36% or even 1%. Its about establishing whether 100% of the voters had 100% of their votes counted exactly the way they cast them.

Kucinich, who drew about 1.4% of the New Hampshire Democratic primary vote, wrote, This is not about my candidacy or any other individual candidacy. It is about the integrity of the election process. No other Democratic candidate, he noted, has stepped forward to question or pursue the claims being made.

New Hampshire is in the unique position to address and, if so determined, rectify these issues before they escalate into a massive, nationwide suspicion of the process by which Americans elect their President. Based on the controversies surrounding the Presidential elections in 2004 and 2000, New Hampshire is in a prime position to investigate possible irregularities and to issue findings for the benefit of the entire nation, Kucinich wrote in his letter.

Without an official recount, the voters of New Hampshire and the rest of the nation will never know whether there are flaws in our electoral system that need to be identified and addressed at this relatively early point in the Presidential nominating process, said Kucinich, who is campaigning in Michigan this week in advance of next Tuesdays Presidential primary in that state. Why to go Kucinich.

Hope he can 'make it happen'.

Maybe we can get the $ being raised by RP supporters for a recount donated to Kucinich.

I don't know if it would have been better for Ron Paul to request the recount, but it's a mute point. Now that a request has been made by a candidate before the deadline, they HAVE to do it I believe.

You had better believe that the Clinton don't want a recount. Hillary goes from 10 points down to a winner overnight - yeah right. Ha! Talk about rigged.

That's right.

And that is why there will not be a recount. The most powerful machine in political history is controlling these events-the bush/clinton machine.

www.opednews.com/articles...h_3a_strong_argument_.htm

"...Obama wins overwhelmingly 83 towns vs 45 towns on hand-counted (and easily verifiable) paper ballots and Clinton clobbers him 59 towns to 38 towns in those precincts using the same Diebold machines that Harri Hursti hacked in the HBO documentary Hacking Democracy? Every one of these machines is programmed by and controlled by one man, John Silvestro of LHS Associates as a subcontractor for Diebold.

explain the fact that you get VERY VERY different results when comparing using one method of voting and counting to another method of voting and counting... Per BBV, Debra Bowen is in N.H. to observe a recount in a Diebold township. This is a very BIG story, and the mainstream media, as usual, has missed it completely so far.

Also, go to www.bradblog.com for outstanding coverage of this developing and explosive story..."

So funny.

Who couldn't have seen this coming? And all us sane people did months ago. When the number of Iowa and New Hampshire residents weren't as goofy as the Paultards thought, it just has to be fraud.

Look forward to more...ah hem... "fraud" in Michigan and South Carolina.

So funny.

So who are you rooting for, Hillary, or is it Obama?

Regardless, I'm sure you're on the same team that rigs the elections, as every post you've made indicates that you hate Freedom and Liberty, and side with those that would impose Tyranny against this Nation and her People.

all ballots in his party's contest

Good! And hopefully the Republican vote will be recounted too.

Kucinich Seeks NH Dem Vote Recount

By STEPHEN FROTHINGHAM – 4 hours ago

CONCORD, N.H. (AP) — Democrat Dennis Kucinich, who won less than 2 percent of the vote in the New Hampshire primary, said Thursday he wants a recount to ensure that all ballots in his party's contest were counted. The Ohio congressman cited "serious and credible reports, allegations and rumors" about the integrity of Tuesday results.

Deputy Secretary of State David Scanlan said Kucinich is entitled to a statewide recount. But, under New Hampshire law, Kucinich will have to pay for it. Scanlan said he had "every confidence" the results are accurate.

In a letter dated Thursday, Kucinich said he does not expect significant changes in his vote total, but wants assurance that "100 percent of the voters had 100 percent of their votes counted."

Kucinich alluded to online reports alleging disparities around the state between hand-counted ballots, which tended to favor Sen. Barack Obama, and machine-counted ones that tended to favor Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton. He also noted the difference between pre-election polls, which indicated Obama would win, and Clinton's triumph by a 39 percent to 37 percent margin.

Candidates who lose by 3 percentage or less are entitled to a recount for a $2,000 fee. Candidates who lose by more must pay for the full cost. Kucinich's campaign said it was sending the $2,000 fee to start the recount.

Scanlon said his office had received several phone calls since Tuesday, mostly from outside the state, questioning the results. New Hampshire's voting machines are not linked in any way, which Scanlon says reduce the likelihood of tampering with results on a statewide level. Also, the results can be checked against paper ballots.

"I think people from out of state don't completely understand how our process works and they compare it to the system that might exist in Florida or Ohio, where they have had serious problems," he said. "Perhaps the best thing that could happen for us is to have a recount to show the people that ... the votes that were cast on election day were accurately reflected in the results. And I have every confidence that will be the case."
