Hi Palo, it's late and I'm only going to add a few remarks here for you.

  1. Ron Paul did the best ever in this debate, turning attacks by the moderators into winning retorts.
  2. Ron Paul had a kindly face during parts of the talk, even at times when his opponents were making snide remarks.
  3. Ron Paul's subtle suggestion that losing two "little" primaries did not indicate that he wasn't electable.
  4. He delivered well on the message of small government, humble foreign policy, and civil rights.
  5. He especially did well on the Israel-related questions, and evidently supported Israel's attack on the Iraqi reactor so many years ago.
  6. He had to dodge the suggestion that he was a 911 truther, and did so well, leaving people's own thoughts to themselves.
I think his polling will improve a little at least. Now he can play to the south. Let's see how well he does there.

you're a peach
it sounds like Ron Paul did great!
I am overjoyed
Love, Palo

I prayed for him hard the whole debate, so I was not able to hear his answers
altho I did get strong visual interpretation

he is a gentle modest man
he does not act like a politician
he is unassuming
he is not arrogant

he is brilliant

I can say more in another post...
he is utterly different from all the rest...
we are lucky beyond measure to have him as our candidate

#354. To: All, buckeye (#351)

another impresson I had (again visually)
was that it was a lively good debate

I don't know why everyone is mad at FOX about this debate
I thought Brit and the others did excellent job

of course I didn't hear a lot of the questions
and I didn't hear any answers
I was just praying for Ron Paul the whole time, I wanted him to do very well

that's why I am so grateful to all of your posts which let me know how Ron answered the questions
and how you thought he did
Love, Palo

I did hear Carl ask him about the truthers
it didn't seem to throw Ron Paul at all

I also heard Carl ask Huckabee about his position wife submit to husband at all times
LOL

I thought about going there but decided against it.

I actually know, or knew both of these people. Boggles my mind, Somebody had to go to Hope High School from 1972- 74. And I was the victim.

Mike, at the time, would stop and pull you out of the mud. A decent man really, nobody that I knew did not like him. Nobody could not like him, generally speaking.

He was always humble, and that was quite different from the other pompous religious kids in the school. A lot of that.

He is a true believer, One Way to Salvation and not, I think to be nuianced in the Middle East conversations.

In short I would love him as a neighbor and lothe him as a COC. O and the MIC would roll him like a log. He is a Big Government Statist from day one.

Mike does sound like a lovely guy from your report
it's ok with me he is a true believer
I am a true believer too, but just in different things
it is very nice he is not a hypocrite about religion, that I could not abide
I like when someone is sincere, no matter what their beliefs are
I respect all beliefs
it does credit to his character that you say he always tried to help the other guy

I have nothing whatsoever against Mike
I just want Ron Paul to be our President
and I do not thnk Mike is in the same league as Ron Paul
Mike sounds like a typical pol, who happens to be a very nice guy

Love, Palo

I couldn't help giggle when Mike was asked about wife submitting to husband on all things
it was naughty of Carl to ask that question
but look at the queston he asked Ron Paul right afterwards, about the truthers

but it's good for candidates to be asked all kinds of questions I think
why not?
it made the debate so interesting

you are right

I had the oddest thought after watching the debate
Ron Paul was so humble, so not arrogant one tiny bit
such a normal modest man

and I thought, "it is amazing, the saving of our country depends on him..."

I'll tell ya all something interesting
most of the time when Ron Paul talked he shrugged his shoulders as he talked
his body language is the opposite of all the others

I haven't mentioned it before on thread, because I don't have an idea of what it means (if it is bad or good?)
my first thought was, "if I were talking to someone, and trying to communicate,
"and knew they didn't see it as I did, but I wanted to say my piece anyway
"I would shrug my shoulders too as I talked"
it's a way not to be pushy in someone's face

does anyone have a comment or perception on this?

Love, Palo

he didn't come across as insecure, I hope I am not giving that impression
but conciliatory, maybe that is the word?

I think you perceived it correctly - not pushy but nonetheless putting his ideas out there for others to consider - remember - especially tonight - he's was facing a none too friendly group of Fox news staff asking questions as well as competitive GOP colleagues. And tonight for the first time I noticed McCain and Mittster were openly laughing at Dr. Paul whenever he spoke, appearing to be dismissive of his remarks. The other candidates thankfully were polite and did not emulate the actions of the 2 swaggering punks.

I had not noticed that happen in previous debates. McCain must be feeling flush with victory from NH as though that means anything - McCain always wins in NH and then nose-dives thereafter. I don't get where Mittster got his wise-ass smirking arrogance towards Dr. Paul tonight - it's not like Mittster has wowed people in Iowa or NH. For all the personal $ Mittster has poured into losing campaigns in Iowa and NH, it should be Dr. Paul smirking at him.

brilliant Scrapper, exactly you got it!

this is perfect then, no?

O I didn't know they were being openly dismissive, then it makes it even more appropriate that Ron Paul spoke that way

because it communicates, "others may laugh at this, but this is how I see it..."

it was a nice way to keep his equilibirum and continue to communicate effectively, no?
