Who are willing to work for ten dollars a day. See, this is the genius of our ruling class, they figured they could outsource all of the jobs from here, and then have Americans buy their overpriced goods. Imagine their surprise when they discovered that by shipping the jobs away, suddenly the people here couldn't afford their products any longer! Wow! WHO could have seen THAT coming?

IMHO that question was why he was invited this time.

You know it. Carl tried to force him to tell anyone who doesn't believe the Official Government Lie to piss off.

I will throw a party, beers on the house, if Carl were to be hit by a bus soon and purely by providence.

Anyone that does not think that was a loaded question about the 911 truthers is not paying attention.

Ron Paul's quick answer denying that he's a truther, and requesting to rejoin the central themes of the debate, was excellent.

Standing up for those who do question the official story was the best part of the answer. It is not the Government's place to tell people what to think, what to question, or what to believe.

When Cameron asked if he would request his supporters to stop their activities was way over the edge.

Paul should have answered ... the American people have been lied to so much that they have every right top question the governments theory ... which is implausible. Jack Kennedy was murdered, probably with assistance from the CIA, we now know that Oswald worked for the CIA, and that the House Committee on Assassinations found there was a "conspiracy" to kill Kennedy. The 9-11 Commission didn't mention building 7, admitted the CIA lied to them and refused to release numerous documents ... and never has buiding 7 falling at free fall speed into its own footprint been explained to the people.

Huckster drawing out RP on Israel, who dodges the obvious ploy to the evangelicals. RP states he defended Israel's attack on Iraq's nuke reactor. We can't afford to support Israel, says RP.

Giuliani: ally, not step-child. Can't afford not to defend Israel.

RP needs to let it be known that IF Israel is attacked, and IF congress were to declare war, constitutionally, of course he would defend Israel.

Yes, that would be a good reply.

At this point in time they could still get it but Israel is not as popular with the general public as they are with their paid off and blackmailed Congresscruds that are supposed to be representing OUR interests. There would be opposition.

McCain will just make everyone else look good.

Did you see the side camera shots of McCain's arrogant leering smile? He did himself no favors - he looked like the spoiled short fat wise cracking punk bully on the playground that everyone loathes.

I think FOX has definitely declared its support for McCrazy with all the easy questions and his chances for rebuttals.

Actually I think Fox was gunning for Huckabee as much as they were RP. Rupert Murdock and his neocon news editors definitely do not like Huckabee - too Christian and non-Jewish enough for their liking.

Hi Palo, it's late and I'm only going to add a few remarks here for you.

  1. Ron Paul did the best ever in this debate, turning attacks by the moderators into winning retorts.
  2. Ron Paul had a kindly face during parts of the talk, even at times when his opponents were making snide remarks.
  3. Ron Paul's subtle suggestion that losing two "little" primaries did not indicate that he wasn't electable.
  4. He delivered well on the message of small government, humble foreign policy, and civil rights.
  5. He especially did well on the Israel-related questions, and evidently supported Israel's attack on the Iraqi reactor so many years ago.
  6. He had to dodge the suggestion that he was a 911 truther, and did so well, leaving people's own thoughts to themselves.
I think his polling will improve a little at least. Now he can play to the south. Let's see how well he does there.

Hmmm.....don't know about the smoked part, though.

Once upon a time in SoCal my dearly departed husband was a general contractor and one of his contractors belonged to a gun club and he brought us over 4 pheasants.

I cooked them all at the same time, stuffed wild rice, etc., and had 2 couples over......and still had oodles of meat left.......so I made sandwiches and took them to work for the next 2 days.

Gads, but that was delicious eating.

And I bet I could never find that recipe or way of cooking them again. I had an old turn of the century (last century) cookbook from some hotel in NY (the Plaza or Waldorf or some such) and there was a recipe for cooking pheasant.

Seeing as how I am not a cook, in fact I intensely dislike cooking, that cookbook is one that went into one of the yard sales book piles.

It was not posted. It was the post-debate vote taken among a dozen Fox News bought-out "neutral" laymen debate observers.

Don't concern yourself about the vote. It was pretty clear - even to the freaker gopers - what FOX's feedback group was all about. Frankly it made Fox look terrible.

The people interviewed were not very well spoken and all were rather fat and unattractive - I think FOX tried to find people Americans might identify with but who wants to identify with overweight and goofy looking people, who ramble on and say nothing or who sound shrill and critical? Puhlease...

Wow!

Ron Paul wins GOP Debate

Larry Fester

Analysis- Republican Congressman Ron Paul won the GOP debate. Fox News apparently feeling pressure after censoring Ron Paul from the last GOP forum two days prior to the New Hampshire primary, included Paul in tonight’s debate.

Paul was actually given equal time to speak and he embarrassed his opponents on foreign policy, especially John McCain who had said prior to the debate that he would not mind keeping U.S. troops in Iraq for 100 years.

Paul pointed out that the U.S. can’t afford the Iraq war and is borrowing from China to finance it.

Paul was also the only candidate to recognize that the U.S. is already in a recession that could get much worse. He also said that the real estate market was already in a depression.

Paul spoke about monetary policy as the cause of the recession. His opponents did not seem too familiar with the topic.

On fiscal Conservatism Paul shined as well. His defense of the Constitution and Civil Liberties was also passionate.

The audience was also very receptive to Paul’s views applauding often, including foreign policy issues, which seemed to irritate the moderators.

Fox then presented a less than credible focus group that had almost all participants claiming Paul was the loser. Gauging the actual crowd applause, Paul was the winner, although it remains to be seen if that will translate into a victory in the state.

Fred Thompson, Mike Huckabee, and the Republican delegate leader, Mitt Romney all performed well.

Giuliani was a little redundant

McCain was the big loser. He came off a little unhinged. Paul just made his opponents look uninformed on foreign policy and liberal on economics.

Regardless of who you thought won the debate, it was by far the best. If the networks have had fair and open debates thoughout the campaign, the ratings would have been through the roof.

Cell phones can send actual 'text' messages that someone can read like an email on their little visual display. But they can also use a TEXT code to 'send' a vote on a poll.

Fake Focus Group Calls Ron Paul Loser

By Paul Reissaus | January 10, 2008

Paul Reissaus www.naureport.com

In yet another Faux News fake focus group, the actors were aked who they thought won the South Carolina debate, the concensus was Thompson, which I hate to admit is my view as well.

The next question was Who do you think lost? The actors on que, raised their hands in unison in favor of Ron Paul being the Loser. I couldn’t disagree more.

Let’s see, you have a dying actor (Thompson); a Nazi and potential rape victim (McCain); the son of a crime boss and made guy (Giuliani); a cockeyed preacher from Arkansas that believes it’s okay to rape and torture dogs (Hucklabee); George HW Bush’s third son and Nazi fascist co-conspirator (Romney); and a hardcore conservative with a long history of being right (RON PAUL!)

Fake Focus Group Calls Ron Paul Loser

Also in case some posters missed the Fox News debates, here's a link to the YouTube clips re: RP's responses to the 4 questions he was asked:

www.ronpaulforums.com/showthread.php?t=86111

Postscript: the arrogant Mittster and his unstable lunatic compadre, McCrazy, are going to lose the GOP Pres candidacy and I am sooooo happy - especially since Mittster is using his own personal fortune to underwrite his predictable loss and McCrazy proves once again that there's no limit to how many times he can try and lose yet again. Those 2 mutts appear briefly in the clips. As for the mindless heaps of trash in the audience who guffawed and breyed when Carl Cameron asked Dr. Paul about his winnability quotient, when they become ill and need the help of a M.D. - professionals who are ranked as having the highest IQ's - let those donkeys think back to their rude punk behavior towards the only winner in the entire group of hucksters and liars and affirmative action candidates running for President of their country. These louts in the audience should consider themselves lucky that Dr. Paul has tossed his hat into the ring comprised of knaves and fools.

it's ok with me he is a true believer
I am a true believer too, but just in different things
it is very nice he is not a hypocrite about religion, that I could not abide

it does credit to his character that you say he always tried to help the other guy

I have nothing whatsoever against Mike

I couldn't help giggle when Mike was asked about wife submitting to husband on all things
it was naughty of Carl to ask that question
but look at the queston he asked Ron Paul right afterwards, about the truthers

but it's good for candidates to be asked all kinds of questions I think

tomoo7 - I'm glad you said what you did. I mentioned earlier in this thread that Fox was determined to be as mean to Huckabee as to Dr. Paul. Rupert Murdoch ( and the elites?) don't like Huckabee at all.

I thought that question was a cheap shot and it turns out it was actually taken out of Biblical New Testament context. I thought Huckabee's response was perfect - he did very well for himself and probably won over some undecided voters who fretted about how much his evangelical faith would make him too narrow focused. Huckabee made Carl Cameron regret asking him that question.

I didn't think the intentional back-stab by Carl Cameron was funny at all. I thought it was below the belt and uncalled for.

We Ron Paul supporters are outraged about the tough breaks that MSM have given to RP. But we should also be outraged about what cheap shots MSM delivers to other candidates. We want all the candidates to be on a level playing field and we should let media know when they are being unfair not only to RP but to others, because it means that they are openly abusing the power of the medium to de-select who they don't want for us.

It wouldn't be wrong if Carl Cameron asked all candidates those same type of "cheap shot" questions - ie. questions on matters that have zip zero to do with issues important to voters. On the list of issues ranked as important to US voters, I have never seen 9/11 truthers or New Testament verses included. Since Carl Cameron did not ask cheap shot meaningless questions of all the candidates - only with RP and Huckabee - then this becomes important because Fox is abusing its media powers to purposefully de-select Pres candidates Fox doesn't like. That's not fair or right. Aren't these TV stations using public air waves ie. public property in the course of running their businesses? Media should not abuse what we The People allow them to use gratis.

I'll tell ya all something interesting
most of the time when Ron Paul talked he shrugged his shoulders as he talked
his body language is the opposite of all the others

I haven't mentioned it before on thread, because I don't have an idea of what it means (if it is bad or good?)
my first thought was, "if I were talking to someone, and trying to communicate,
"and knew they didn't see it as I did, but I wanted to say my piece anyway
"I would shrug my shoulders too as I talked"
it's a way not to be pushy in someone's face

does anyone have a comment or perception on this?

Love, Palo

he didn't come across as insecure, I hope I am not giving that impression

Hannity didn't make any comment who won, just that Ron Paul was the ultimate loser tonight.

it's a way not to be pushy in someone's face

does anyone have a comment or perception on this?

he didn't come across as insecure, I hope I am not giving that impression but conciliatory, maybe that is the word?

I think you perceived it correctly - not pushy but nonetheless putting his ideas out there for others to consider - remember - especially tonight - he's was facing a none too friendly group of Fox news staff asking questions as well as competitive GOP colleagues. And tonight for the first time I noticed McCain and Mittster were openly laughing at Dr. Paul whenever he spoke, appearing to be dismissive of his remarks. The other candidates thankfully were polite and did not emulate the actions of the 2 swaggering punks.

I had not noticed that happen in previous debates. McCain must be feeling flush with victory from NH as though that means anything - McCain always wins in NH and then nose-dives thereafter. I don't get where Mittster got his wise-ass smirking arrogance towards Dr. Paul tonight - it's not like Mittster has wowed people in Iowa or NH. For all the personal $ Mittster has poured into losing campaigns in Iowa and NH, it should be Dr. Paul smirking at him.

the question was asked
both men answered
I think people's percepton of them will be based on their answers
not on the questions
as I said maybe there is something wrong with me
because you are angry about this
and I am not
and your posts are so logical

it wasn't a very nice queston to ask Ron Paul that Gomer asked either
"what makes you think you are even electable?"
but again I am glad Ron Paul had an opportunity to answer it

bottom line I think both men came out ahead from the unpleasant questions
and I still think it wasn't a crime, because it caught people's interest
they really listened hard to those answers
and as a result got to know both men better

Yeah, riggghttt, and why are we not surprised?

I don't get Hannity's popularity. He doesn't even have a college degree. He was some kind of carpenter or painter in Santa Barbara when he was "discovered." What friggin' academic credentials does he have to be an political news analyst? He probably has not read the constitution ever or a college level US history or political science textbook. And now I noticed he's no longer a pretty news desk hair-do - he's become rather rotund.

brilliant Scrapper, exactly you got it!

this is perfect then, no?

O I didn't know they were being openly dismissive, then it makes it even more appropriate that Ron Paul spoke that way

because it communicates, "others may laugh at this, but this is how I see it..."

it was a nice way to keep his equilibirum and continue to communicate effectively, no?

I agree with you totally regarding the attempt to reduce Huckabuck to ashes with the question of wives submitting. I further agree that he answered it perfectly; yes, it is sound Biblical teaching.

He gave Cameron a boot in his sorry, scrawny ass with his answer.

Cameron was there to be the pit bull........and wound up just a damned yapping poodle [sorry poodles, I don't mean to offend y'all, but I have to have something].

Forgot to say this, too: I agree totally as it regards an equal playing field for every single candidate whether I agree with them or not. Thus far, we've not seen a fair playing field.

The Ron Paul Knockout in South Carolina www.gambling911.com/Ron-Paul-011208.html

While the media and Fox News "focus group" didn't think too highly of Republican US Presidential candidate Ron Paul, the response by the audience during Fox's South Carolina debate suggested otherwise. He received more applause than any other candidate bar none....not to mention zero boos.

...Ron Paul knocked them dead in this debate. He did not miss a beat (even the "I can't hear you, you need to speak up" to the moderator attacking him was pretty potent) and he's going to get votes after this one. It was by far his best performance, and one of the best performances of anyone in any debate. People who do not necessarily support Ron Paul were wowed by him.

....The knockout punch came when Paul was asked - laughingly - by one of the moderators if he really thought he could be elected, Paul lashed back that he should be embraced by conservatives and suggested he was one of the most representative of the Republican party.

Live free or die.

Did anyone think it was awfully suspicious re: one of the questions to Dr. Paul regarding Iranian gunboats...how at the end of Dr. Paul's reply that Brit Hume said "well no one here is advocationg war as you suggest they are doing - they all said diplomacy first" and then Dr. Paul said "well maybe tonight they have softened their tone but they and many in DC - both parties - are looking for a chance to attack Iran." Then Brit Hume said something else and everyone started to laugh in the audience as well as those 2 breying donkeys, McCain and Romney, and Dr. Paul looked confused and then he said "I'm sorry, I couldn't hear what you said. I couldn't hear what you said. Could you repeat it?" And at that point the laughter became stronger. Unfortunately it was not a good moment for Dr. Paul. Because he could not hear Brit Hume's comments (for whatever reason) he looked a bit out of it.

Do you any of you guys think that FOX News cut Dr. Paul's audio on purpose???? Or do you think it was only that the laughter drowned Brit Hume's remarks to Dr. Paul. Maybe I am getting too paranoid about MSM's "tricks."

Postscript: angle, you and I posted at the same time - I see that you refer to the situation I describe here and you believe RP looked great. Okay - good - maybe I was wrong to perceive it as a dicey moment for RP.

But you are correct.........lousy questions the others didn't get. Instead they got to 'strut and preen' as they expounded on their philosophy regarding policies of import to the nation and the world.

Why not ask Dr. Paul about the federal reserve's effect on monetary policy.......why not follow up on his claim that we're borrowing money from China.

Why were there not questions regarding Julie's style in dresses, or wigs? Why not questions about why the citizens of NY should be paying for security for his bimbo-soon-to-be- wife.....is this behaviour we can expect in the WH, a la Kennedy and Clinton?

Why not the big question on why 100 years of war..........or 50 years of Korea troop placement to Comrade Commander POW? Why not ask Lurch why he thinks his acting credentials make him electable? Or exactly what was it he did in the Senate that made him 'presidential' material. Why no questions to Pompadour about HIS religion? Or his dog traveling experiences--let Peta and dog lovers get a load of that crap.

Nah..........let's try to knock out the best candidate, the one with a true grasp of what the hell is happening to this nation, and then knock out any evangelical support==make them out to be less than some tree lover's nature god or whatever the hell it.

no it wasn't deliberate
those commercials come on automatically
it is Brit's job to be aware of it, and say "we are going to break for commercial now"
somehow everyone was too caught up in what Ron Paul was saying, and forgot to say, "we break for commercial now"

I am very grateful for this FOX debate last night in South Carolina
because I woke up this morning realizing the inevitability of the Ron Paul Presidency
for first time I saw a whole picture
and what the whole picture showed me was the inevitability of the Ron Paul Presidency
I see it all differently now

I have been walking on air since the debate

Love, Palo

buckeye, I wish I could communicate why I see it
but it did not come to me as a rssult of sucessive logical thoughts
I just saw it and KNEW it, all at same time
hopefully my logical mind will catch up with it, and I can explain it

all I can say is I understood the missing half (for me) in the picture
and now I see it whole

Excellent observations about the uneven playing field that Fox News created for RP and Huckabee versus Fox's "chosen" in order of preference from top to bottom McCain was Rupert Murdoch's choice for GOP Pres candidate or so it seemed to me, followed by The Mittster, then Thompson and JulieJudy.

I think Fox News staff might have been a bit surprised that Thompson the Actor may have edged out their first 2 annointed favorites. I was not paying much attention to Thompson's questions or responses. Thompson in the past always looks so bored and unanimated about politics, I've never taken him seriously from the start. It puzzles me why Thompson even bothered to throw his hat into the ring - maybe his ambitious wife twisted his arm? Whatever... I do remember that Thompson was classy with regards to how he listened to Dr. Paul's responses - Thompson is very tall so he is an eye catcher and he did not leer or guffaw at all that I could see like the impolite punks - McCrazy and Pompadour.

Yes, this is a regular aspect of Ron Paul's comportment during verbally confrontational segments of debates. It may relate to the cross talk, applause, and as you say — laughter/booing. I think he is hard of hearing, and is cautious about overreacting, so he seeks clarification before he makes a response when he can't hear precisely what is spoken.

I see nothing wrong with this, but would not be surprised if other younger people are taken aback by it. The campaign may want to invest in a hearing check for the good doctor himself, and possibly acquire advanced technology hearing aids for him. Losing the acuity of his hearing clearly has nothing to do with senility. He's a senior, and his age and wisdom are too valuable to diminish because he appears to lack youthful ears.

We should be proud that our candidate waits to respond in anger when he is not clear on what has been said. He clearly controls himself well when provoked. Once he is elected, we can bet that he will be provoked many times by challengers foreign and domestic.
