Neo-cons are not Republicans. Ron Paul is a Republican.
Actually Paul isn't a Republican given what has happened to the party over the past 20-30 years, so the question was somewhat appropriate. Why RP stays among that mix of gay internationalists is the real question.
Ive heard that argument before and Im weary of it. RP looked like a skunk at a picnic the other night and sometimes the right thing to do is stand on principle, especially given his less than sterling start.
I do wish you'd be a bit more optimistic. There is nothing lost by playing the game for a while and getting some form of message out there. Though he denies it all the time, if a GOP nod seems hopeless after super tuesday, and if his war chest is still pretty full, I think he will run as a Libertarian again.
Realism keeps getting in the way, for me at least. The game is rigged and his
effort has unfolded exactly as I knew it would. I've been a good boy until now
with a self exile, but I'm back and I'm goingto speak my piece. The bozo
filter is alive and well for anyone who doesn't like what I'm saying. When you
can show me where pom poms and cheerleading can trump Diebold machines I’ll be
happy to join the squad.
Win, lose, draw, or swindled out of it, we don't lose anything by getting ideas out on the big stage. I bet this campaign has added a million new freedom lovers to the fold. If nothing else, that may be another million militias of one.
It almost seems to me that some people not only want Paul not to be president, they are trying their best in subtle terms to keep Americans from having a choice.
This is an old quote form Louis Mcfadden...A Congressman that paid with his life for speaking up...
"Our freedom did not drop down like manna from heaven. It has been fought for from the beginning of our history and the blood of men has been shed to obtain it. It is the result of centuries of resistance to the power of the executive and it has brought us equal justice, trial by jury, freedom of worship, and freedom of religious and political opinion. Democracy is far the most difficult form of government because it requires for perfect functioning the participation of everybody.
"Democracy wants constant guarding, and for us to turn to a dictatorship would be an act of consummate cowardice, of surrender, of confession that our strength and courage alike had gone.
The answer to your question lies in the second paragraph.

WOW Cynicom, thank you for posting that it is great I never heard that quote before, and it is TRUE Love, Palo

The few did the bleeding and dying to found this country. The huge majority sat on the sidelines shouting "you cant win" for years. After the struggle, the majority were there to assure the soldiers that "we were with you all the time".
Human nature never changes.
That last para by McFadden I think is quite telling in our current era.
For his warning McFadden was poisoned, shot at and fatally poisoned on the third try.
