You give lots of credentials to "Bad Astronomy" and "Bad Astronomer". You shouldn't, they don't deserve it. As for "mixed up the observation of the transient signals with detecting a signal from E.T." - statement is misleading and dishonest. Here's why: if signal is received that significantly differ from signals known to be produced by space, signal is going on analysis. Analysis could last for years, maybe decades. Ergo, many years (if ever) is needed to establish is it made by someone or is it just a space noise. In any case, signal received is going to analysis. Analysis will take it's time - probably many years. Until analysis is finished, we have no way to say much about it. We all have to wait. The only issue is will the process of analyzing be public or secret. I was always a voice for doing things publicly (I'm in retirement now). I was one of the very few. You see, after signal went public, SETI scientist Dan Werthimer said: "although this pulse is not well understood... it may have a natural origin". But again, mentioned pulse might have some other (not natural) origin. The comment is two-sworded indeed. And where are we now. After all said, here's a news for you: Allen array in California is now (as I write this) actively searching for more of these signals. In conclusion, I'm puzzled by your position on this topic: you probably don't know much about it...but again Bush don't know much about anything...
