Colbert goes 'mano a mano' with Lou Dobbs

by Frank James

Stephen Colbert just keeps us laughing. His "interview" with Lou Dobbs last night was hilarious.

Colbert took on the role of Esteban Colberto, the host of a Spanish-language version of the Colbert Report.

"Colberto" is clearly playing off an old interview with Dobbs. The men weren't in the same studio at the same time. Three giveaways: You never see the two men in the same shot.

Then there's a continuity problem. Hint: Look at "Colberto's" left hand when the camera is on him, then look at it when he's shown from behind in one of the first cutaway shots.

Also, Dobb's book: "War on the Middle Class" was published in 2006, not exactly a book that would be promoted now.

Still, the "interview" is worth watching, especially because Colbert's funny and it demonstrates that fake news has had to become even faker because of the writers' strike.

When my sons were teenagers they sometimes watched the Mexican channels. Somehow I knew they were not studying Spanish.

Totally baseless suspicions. Without merit.

Why is Univision permitted to run its debauchery while the other stations are frequently censored? Non-English programming, from Sesame Street instructing American children how to speak and spell Spanish to Universion's licentiousness are of questionable cultural value. Yet both types of programming tend to be bundled in cable packages, and available for America's youth to consume without supervision.

I suspect it's permitted because of its potential in values clarification and cultural deprogramming.

It's not OK for us to have our own culture. Everyone else's is fine.

No wonder so many Americans only watch sports. Good football this weekend.
