Glazed Over

A cop pulls over a guy.

"Your eyes are awfully red. Have you been drinking?"

"Gee, officer," the man says. "Your eyes are awfully glazed -- have you been eating doughnuts?"

Had one of the idiot state troopers smart off to me a long time ago down in Florida. He was already writing the ticket when he got out of his car and the first thing he said was something like "Were you trying to kill the guys back there working on the road?" And of course I wasn't trying to kill anyone and I was not even close to them when I went by where they were working. So I told the dumb@$$ that if I had been aiming for them I could have gotten at least one.

......and I can remember when the guys of the FHP were gentlemen - helpful, friendly, kind, courteous, etc. You Scouts know the rest. Those days are gone forever. It's a New American out there today - and too often he's a scary one. 4% of Americans are psychopathic/sociopathic, and I think 90% of those are meaner'n hell - for reasons unknown. When I retired in '99 I could'a moved out of the U.S. but like a dumbass I stayed here. Now I'm wondering why...

Bub - there's lots of us still here for lots of different reasons from family to finances to health, and everything in between. Some, maybe, just to see how it all ends, or changes for the better or the worse.

Yep and despite it all, I sleep well each night! My Mom used to tease me by saying "where there's no sense, there's no feeling". Hmmmm.....now I have to wonder if she was teasing???

No - Mom was correct on this one - as mine often said, 'Too soon old, and too late smart.'

I cannot argue with her, sad to say.
