As a culture we need to start stepping away from global economy and profit driven markets. Instead of investing our brightest minds to the pursuit of money we need to start thinking about how we want to spend our next 2,000 years on earth. Global calamity has been on peoples minds since the dawn of time, but the way we battle with nature we could be closer than ever. Since we marginalize the extreme poor and don't teach them how to live independent of relief. They are forced to fight over jobs that pay slave wages. Most of the jobs in poor countries are resource and factory based and offer only poor working conditions. We can do better than this. The only way is to return to more local based economies.
The rich will never surrender there power, They will never support programs to educate the poor efficiently. If the rich wanted the poor to be educated they would be. Instead they want on call cheap labor that can be thrown away as soon as they lose there economic value.
It is also a horrific the lifestyle the mainstream media sells to the rest of the world. A lifestyle supported by slave laborers and fake cooperate slogans. Most of the poor simply do not have the resources to ever attain such a decadent way of living. YET THE RICH WILL NEVER SUPPORT PROGRAMS THAT RESTORE POWER TO THE POOR. Instead they invest in things like Monsanto, Dupont, and Wall Mart. That only take responsibility ONLY for their nasdaq rating, And will not teach the people art of local small scale food production. Instead they would rather sell them GMO seeds, and over priced petroleum based agricultural chemicals.
Remember the dust bowl? Someday we might be the victim of great calamity, Don't expect any help from Wall Street.
