Discussing reality, absent some improbable catastrophic discontinuity, one of these 4 is going to be replacing Bush in the WH: McCain, Romney, Hillary, Obama. Sadly, the only criterion other than 'gut feelings' that could be applied to favor one of the 4 is 'the lesser evil'. On the GOP side, the lesser evil is Romney. On the Demo side the lesser evil is Obama-mama. Between Romney and Obama... Obama is probably the lesser evil. Both Romney and Obama will find it more difficult to expand the Prez power, Romney because he's a Mormonist and Obama because he's a half-Black (African-American-American?) but it would probably be more difficult for Obama to abuse his powers because he will be constantly fear for his life while in office. Thoughts?

Join the Ron Paul Revolution No matter who wins, I want the President to be of a different party than Congress, so we will have gridlock. I probably wouldn't mind seeing Obama win. Let's see him act like a stupid white man and expand the war. He'll go down in history as another O.J. Simpson -- this country gives him everything it can and he still proves himself to be just another negro. I don't think he wants that to happen.

Indeed, a prez of a different party than the congress would help somewhat. Obama as a prez may be our own Evita :))) - as our state's history is entering the Operetta phase.

I am talking about 'the lesser evil' because this is what we have. I remember reading somewhere that Ha'aretz, rating the current candidates to the presidency from the p.o.v. of their usefulness to Israel had Obama last with a rating of 5 (out of 10). Jewliani was #1 and Hillary, I believe, was either #2 or very close to the top.

With Obama, we may not see an Israel-first strategy, but if he pursues a global government strategy it's even worse. Global government is the real threat here anyway.
The issue I am raising is: "is Obama 'the lesser evil'"? I am not asking anyone to vote for him or to actively support him. I am only observing that, out of the four semi-finalists he appears to be the least harmful. If this is not the case then, which one is it? Hillary? Mitt? John?

I respect your careful analysis of this situation. It demonstrates your concern for the country. But I can't cast my ballot in preference for any of these harbingers of tyranny.
Understood. I am not sure if I would actually vote of Obama if he was the Demo and McCain was his opponent. I might do so because McCain appears to be partly senile and partly insane. If Obama's opponent was Romney, I'd probably write in Mr. Paul, even though his tactics disappointed me. If Hillary was running against McCain... I don't know if I'd actually vote for Hillary because I don't want a madman replacing a moron but I don't want a presidential dynasty either.

I don't know. I really, really don't. How does it feel to be a stupid, loser creep and know it? :))) Don't plea ignorance, claiming that you're not. Like McCain, you know who you are. You probably don't know why you are the way you are (life's unfair) but you definitely know who/what you are.

Absolutely right. We can't hope for anything good to come out of Washington, so the best option for us is for as little to happen as possible. Otherwise, every step is a step backwards or sideways. The best scenario would be a GOP Congress with Obama as President. Congress will pass, Obama will veto. Obama will appoint, Congress will block. And so on for four years. The irony is that Obama will oppose bills passed by a GOP Congress that he'd support if they were passed by Democrats, and vice-versa. It's all part of the partisan politics game. McCain as President with a Democratic Congress is slightly worse, because McCain has a good track record of working with Democrats.
She's George W. Bush with different plumbing. When she started on about how the war in Iraq was part of God's plan, I thought to myself "Haven't we heard enough of this shit over the past 8 years." That shouldn't be anyone's idea of a lesser evil. As for McCain vs. Obama, it's basically a toss-up. McCain is Bush on crystal meth, Obama is Clinton on crack.

At this point, while neither ticket is to my liking, a friend of mine pointed out that Obama has been a big supporter of all the "Mental Hellth" State measures such as the Orwellian "New Freedom" Iniative to screen every kid in America so the Pharma companies can sell them drugs, along with the Mother Act to put a "Case Worker" with every birth. This is all stuff of the 1984 mode and I am beginning to tip toward voting against Oh'Bummer by voting for McLame. Not a pleasant choice but while the lesser evil is still evil it is still a lesser evil.

People settling for the "lesser evil" is the reason why we only get non-choices like Obama or McCain, Bush or Kerry, Bush or Gore, Clinton or Dole, in elections.
