Obama blames Bush for economic downturn in speech to autoworkers

Associated Press - February 13, 2008 11:45 AM ET

JANESVILLE, Wis. (AP) - Barack Obama blamed President Bush today for the economic downturn in remarks to General Motors workers in Janesville.

The automakers are among 74,000 GM employees considering a buyout offer.

The Democratic presidential candidate is speaking at the Janesville plant a day after the company reported the largest annual loss ever for an American automaker - nearly $39 billion in 2007.

Obama says it's failed leadership and imagination in Washington that caused economic struggles, including the housing crisis.

Obama is promising to end tax breaks for companies who ship jobs overseas and not to sign trade agreements unless they include protections for the environment and American workers.

He criticizes Bush for giving tax cuts to corporations and the rich while spending billions on the war in Iraq. Obama also rebukes Democratic rival Hillary Rodham Clinton, and Republican front-runner John McCain for supporting the war.

W Bush made a lot of promises, too. Remember the humble foreign policy pledge? How about Bush Sr.'s "No New Taxes" pledge?

Oh, I forgot, the "Democrats" don't lie.

Oh, Democrats lie too, all the time, no doubt. But, the "powers that be" are not totally stupid, they have to be at least a little bit smart to hang on to their precious power. As of now, even the dimmest and most stubborn among them have to be noticing just how upset the proles are getting. Heck, that footage of Sean Hannity running down the street while being chased by an angry mob of Ron Paul supporters had to get their attention, if only for a moment.

Either they are going to start throwing a few bones to the proles, or they are going to find themselves on the wrong end of a truly angry uprising. But there's even more to it than that: They exist to enrich themselves, right? Well, how can they enrich themselves from the labor of an impoverished population? These things go in cycles, always have, always will. As of now, the time has come for the tide to start flowing back to America, specifically American workers. Either they are going to bring back some manufacturing and hence some jobs to American workers, or they are going to simultaneously provoke chaos and upheaval while at the same time causing the entire global economy to grind to a halt. Keep in mind who exactly it is who actually buys all that stuff from China and India. It's not the elites who are shopping at Wal-Mart.

Oh please! They are not the least worried about holding on to their power.

Amazing little unravelling of the doublespeak going on around here.

Wasn't it just yesterday you were telling people an uprising would be met with worse?

Ummmmmm. So basically, you want to let Obama just put it in a little bit, cuz he's different than the rest.

Ohhhhhhkay.

Yes, I did say that, and I still think any violence is going to be met with worse, and I don't want to encourage people to do anything rash or stupid or violent, OK? But also keep in mind that if you keep pushing and pushing and pushing people, they're going to push back.

Furthermore, I'm not a fan of Obama, alright? However, I deeply despise Hillary, and I won't even mention the Republican party. So, if I'm not for Hillary, and I'm not for the Republicans, then all that's left is Obama, alright? Am I for the guy? Not really, but I'd rather see him in office than Hillary.

Now, ball in your court: Since you're apparently against everything, what exactly are YOU for? Or what do YOU suggest anyone do? Got anything to say other than "everything stinks"?

that's left is Obama

That's of course if you can rationalize that the Dem PARTY is any better at all. They sure haven't shown it, and Obama has proven nothing but that he has nice speeches. Whatever floats your boat.

Now, ball in your court: Since you're apparently against everything, what exactly are YOU for? Or what do YOU suggest anyone do? Got anything to say other than "everything stinks"?

You must have me confused with someone else. I'm for what Ron Paul represents and has been trying to do ALONE in congress. I'm not for Globalists. So, if that bothers you, then we of course no anyone standing up to people like them, like OBAMA (CFR), then you are suggesting we support our own suicide.

HTH

Ah yes. Ron Paul, the great savior. And how many primaries has he won? Actually WON? This is the guy who everyone thinks is going to ride in on his white horse and save the day, but he can't win any primaries? If he can't get even one clean victory of any one state's primary, how is he supposed to get any support or traction in Congress?

And by the way, could you be just a little nastier and more condescending in your posts? Just to really help make your point even better, can you ramp up the venom just a touch?

You know, you have access to his record. You can see exactly what he has done and tried to do. Accomplishments in the name of Liberty from anyone else? Anyone?

And yet you want to let the Lucy party hold the football again?

That's nasty?

What's nasty, is selected blindness. Hope you get better.
