Been in Fiji for five days or so. Last night I was awoken by a tremendous roar and after a moment realized a mother of storms was above me. Went to the balcony and saw a world class rainstorm going on, five inches I would guess.

All the buses were stopped in the morning to let the roads drain, but around noon made it to Nadi to take care of some business (OK, OK to buy some beer for the weekend).

Got my camera stolen by some Europeans while I was trying to save a buck by staying in a 15 $$/ night hostel, so all of my pictures are gone including the last pics I am nearly sure to have of my father. Assume everyones a thief till proven other wise I suppose.

Pics are not mine. The landscaping is superb, some of the best I've seen. Fiji is stupidly expensive, first world prices for third world products. But at least I'm here to rest till 27 Feb for the arduous eleven hour flight to LAX. When it clears going to a small city on the south part of the island on the "Coral Coast" for some more diving and sightseeing. That may be in a few days cause a massive low appears to be over the pacific for the time being. So I went to an Indian place and bot three late releasr DVD's ( Bourne Ultimatium, Borat, and Angilia Jolies (sp) CIA flick --- for all of four USD. Pretty bad tho to be in Fiji and be watching movies, but tomorrows' Sunday, the place shuts down and looks to rain for the next several days. Got a great room with a fab resturenant and air conditioned. Piss on hostels with a bunch of trash packers in them, I'll never do that again. Out in the jungle, would be different, but I should have known better just from looking at the scene. Was trying to save a buck cause my wife couldn't come along and prolly felt guilty, but not now. Best, Thomas PS - beer is $12 a six pack. Trouble in Paradise, if ya ask me. (2 images)

So how do you connect to the Internet on the road overseas. Are you using DSL, dialup or cable? I assume you have a laptop.I am curious about what I will need overseas.

The way things are going I am getting really serious about leaving this country before Hillary-Obama-McCain gets elected. Actually, I think the Bilderbergers already have made their plans for the NWO dictatorship to become a reality during the next presidential term.

Fab restaurant...

Can't help but ask, since I always wonder about the food...what does a great restaurant in Fiji serve?

Right now I am useing the net from a Country Fried Chicken" fast food resturaent for 2 FD an hour. Internet cafes are the method I have used to get access. No I don't have a laptop and after getting my camera stolen a few days ago I am OK with that.

Fiji sounds a lot better than it really is. Since the British left it some decades ago it doesn't look like much has been kept up. The main street sidewalks could break you leg if you did not keep a look out and I would expect to be mugged within twenty minutes if out in Nadi after dark.

Some kind of tourist - governmental collusion has a strangle hold over getting to the islands and the cost is staggering. One place is $3000 a night for two people.

Run down places on the beach go for $200/night with an $80 surcharge if you want to eat and bringing food to the islands are prohibited, for you own safety, no doubt.

Very controlled. And the average Fijian makes maybe 15 bucks a day.
