I notice that the media are now acting like Paul does not exist. I mean like not even listing his name on the results anymore. They'll do anything to avoid a one on one debate between Paul and McLame.

Bush might as well endorse all three of them--McCain, Hillary and Obama. Any of them would carry out the policies of their masters, just like he has, stooge that he is.

Ninety five per cent of pubs in Ohio and Texas repudiated Paul and his call to bring the troops home. They voted for more war and they shall have more war.

I would have thought that Paul would have gotten more votes than he did in Texas. It shouldn't be possible to completely ignore him in his own state.

Or, we're all the fringe minority, and people are happy with more war, and the perceived prestige on the world stage (at least for propaganda and internal consumption) it brings. A coworker of mine sent an edititorial to me that emphasized just that, and that we needed to take the fight to our enemies (unnamed, except for referencing Islamofascists, a vacuous and empty term) and that the best defense is a good offense. That's an idea that I haven't been able to understand, because in war, it's been proved over and over that the best defense is a good defense. The Soviets found that out (they, like us, prior to 1941 had emphasized the offense) when the Germans invaded, and they rediscovered defensive tactics the hard way. WWI showed that the defense at that time was the stronger, even in Iraq and Afghanistan, the defense is winning out (I define IED usage as a defensive tactic, but it's difficult to define IED and suicide bombings tactically.)

I think that perhaps we've become a militaristic society, that glorifies warfare and the martial ethos. It's said, really, since we traditionally (or at least what I've read) rejected such notions, and left militarism to the Germans and Prussians. Think of all the "we only liberate, we don't conquer" pap that we're taught throughout childhood, the indispensible nation hogwash, and the glorification of the "good" that we're doing in Iraq and around the world. I don't think anyone would like the military running their town, but it should be just peachy for them foreigners, since they didn't know better to start with, isn't that the idea expounded? I'm always stuck with Bastiat's "broken window" fallacy, and think about the wasted lives and destruction of property. Before the broken window the economy as a whole had the window and the resources for a new one, now there's just a new window. Unfortunately, when we're done, there isn't even the new window.

The day a new draft is instituted, we will know there is no turning back.

The voters of both parties have voted overwhelmingly for more government and more war. In Texas and Ohio, the only non war candidate received 5 per cent of the vote. The statistics do not lie.
