Carlyle Group, walking a narrow path is in the art of doing business at the murky intersection of Washington politics, national security, and private capital; mastering it, has enabled the group to amass $12 billion in funds under management.

For 14 years now, with almost no publicity, the company has been signing up an impressive list of former politicians - including White House Budget Advisor, Bush/Clinton Administrations, Darman, the first President Bush and his secretary of state, James Baker; British former PM John Major; one-time World Bank treasurer Afsaneh Masheyekhi, Former Secretary of Defense and Deputy Director of the CIA, Carlucci, and several south-east Asian powerbrokers - and using their contacts and influence to promote the group. Among the companies Carlyle owns are those which make equipment, vehicles and munitions for the US military, and its celebrity employees have long served an ingenious dual purpose, helping encourage investments from the very wealthy while also smoothing the path for Carlyle's defence firms.

It is now clear that the credit crisis is striking at the very epicenter of business and governmental power in America, and potentially threatening the fortune of the Bush and Clinton families.

The Clintons are also linked indirectly.

The confrontation between the Carlyle Group and its bankers intensified on Friday as the private equity group’s Amsterdam-listed fund teetered on the brink of collapse after receiving margin calls and default notices from lenders.

It might help to explain why Bill and Bush père have been so buddy- buddy.

It might also help to explain why Republicans like Limbaugh seem so interested in helping Hillary's campaign for the nomination.

Bushes and Clintons are joined at the hip. I always refer to the Clinton Crime Family as a wholly-owned subsidiary of the larger, more established and downright venerable Bush Crime Family.

Bubba C. would be more aptly termed "venereal" rather than "venerable," although he IS looking a bit long in the tooth these days.

There is some reason to believe that Poppy originally recruited Bubba into the CIA way back in the Sixties. That's what BJ (Billy Jeff) was doing in the Soviet Union. He wasn't a commie. He was on an intel mission for the Company disguised as a disgruntled hippie-type war protester.

Clinton and Daddy Shrub go way back to the days of Iran Contra, when the Mena, Arkansas airport was used as base for the Contra's cocaine cartel.

Who knows, that's when GHWB suggested that Bill put his money into the Carlyle group, or maybe Carlyle helped launder the Contra's drug money.

I've never seen anything to indicate the Clintons were involved with Carlyle, and membership isn't really a secret as far as I know. The involvement of Bush's dad, Kissinger, the Bin Laden family and the rest are a matter of public record.

Also, I'd always heard that one reason Clinton was hated was because, as a self made man from an ordinary family, he wasn't one of the aristocracy - and the aristocracy saw his Presidency as being uppity. They didn't accept him.

Maybe the Clinton's have now been accepted into the world of the Cabot, DuPont, Wriggley, Bush and Lodge families.

In a recent obituary of a prominent Manhattan socialite in the Economist, the lady, whose name I forget, commenting upon the Monica Affair, said of Bill, he should have stuck to his own class.

The comment was perplexing, since common knowledge maintained that Bill's father was not a member of the Upper Classes of America.

However, rumors did persist that he was the son of a prominent blueblood, since all kinds of naughtiness took place in Hot Springs, a playground for the rich and even royalty; Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands owned a big estate in the area.

Taking the socialite's comments "from his own class" leads one to the speculation that Bill's paternity may have been something well known to American Blue Bloods, that his father was a blueblood and that the story of his paternity was something created to enhance his campaign.
