As typical in the US these days, this plan will do everything except what it intended.

Shut off the supply of cheap foreign ammunition like "Wolf" of Russia or military surplus. Also shut down domestic small time "refinished ammo" manufactures.

Make current stockpiled ammunition illegal, because we in America hate prudent people.

Provide some company somewhere with a fat cash cow of a contract for doing something that can be undone with a bullet puller and $.50 worth of sand paper. I'm sure some cop fired a FMJ round into a blob of ballistic jelly and called it good. So see what a bullet looks like after picked out of a deer and get back to me.

As for fighting crime. Uh, most gang bangers tend to buy their wares from the back of running pickup trucks. Stolen ammo will also increase the fun factor for the police. Heck, if I was a gang banger I'd take a bunch of "tagged" brass from the local range, reload it, and use it in a drive by. Let the cops sort though 20 different names.

Less freedom and safety. What a country!

Dumbasses that write these laws dont know anything about firearms or ammo.

From what I understand, and I could be wrong, is that a executive order can stop ammo imports.
