As summer commences in Iraq, we will see an uptick in casualties, both among our guys and among the Iraqis, just like we do every summer. This year, the administration will blame the fact that elections are occurring in the US and say that AQ is stepping up attacks to give the surrenderers on the Dem side an advantage in the elections in November. Every year it's the same thing. Casualties start to increase, and according to the Bushies, it's everyone's fault but theirs. Will McCain use this very predictable increase in casualties to justify his position? Sure. Will the media let him? Sure. Will he ride it into enough of an electoral success to Diebold the election in November? We'll see.
I just read that Patreus said the attack on the Green Zone this weekend was done by Iran.
