Dear Friend, Thank you for contacting me about gun laws and the Second Amendment. I appreciate hearing from you on this important issue. Americans broadly agree that guns must be kept from those who may pose a threat, and that the rights of legitimate hunters and sportsmen should be protected. We must work to ensure that guns do not fall into the hands of criminals or the mentally ill through an effective background check system. We also have to strike a reasonable balance between public safety and sportsmen's rights. I will continue to work for effective gun laws, including reinstatement of the assault weapons ban that the last Congress allowed to expire, and effective law enforcement. you have to be kidding me...what was that about the constitution?
From Ron Paul to the above is the political leap I can't get my head around.
Obama would want us to get our heads examined.
What Obama is advocating here, and what the Obamaphiles choose to ignore, is that the above means that our medical/pharma records would be studied by government for signs of "mental illness." This is the socialist way and one some here are cheering for.

No. You've got to be freakin' kidding me, right? Right? Oh no...
I've told this story before here, about a neighbor I knew from Bulgaria. She had been a doctor, as had her husband; and even both her daughters became doctors. But that's not the point of the story, just background. She was afraid to leave her trash barrels out beyond the time allowed by the city ordinance. She was afraid to leave her car parked along the curb (I forget why). She spied out of her window routinely, checking for only God knows what. She knew which neighbors were home all day, and which ones spread rumors. Growing up in the Soviet Bloc never left her.

The official Soviet psychiatry allegedly abused the diagnosis of sluggishly progressing schizophrenia, a special form of the illness that supposedly affects only the person's social behavior, with no trace of other traits: "most frequently, ideas about a struggle for truth and justice are formed by personalities with a paranoid structure," according to the Moscow Serbsky Institute professors (a quote [4] from Vladimir Bukovsky's archives). Some of them had high rank in the MVD, such as the infamous Danil Luntz, who was characterized by Viktor Nekipelov as "no better than the criminal doctors who performed inhuman experiments on the prisoners in Nazi concentration camps" [4].
