Free Siegelman Fingers Rove

In a telephone interview shortly after he walked out of a federal prison in Oakdale, La., Mr. Siegelman said there had been "abuse of power" in his case, and repeatedly cited the influence of Karl Rove, the former White House political director.

"His fingerprints are smeared all over the case," Mr. Siegelman said, a day after a federal appeals court ordered him released on bond and said there were legitimate questions about his case.

Many of us hope this will be the case that finally sends Turdblossom to Jail and I'm sure Don wouldn't mind that either. This whole case has stunk since the beginning and never should of got to court in the first place.

It has bothered me that Congress has taken too long to start a investigation into this case. That should of been done months ago, but better late than never. Some of the things Rep. Conyers has done over the last couple yrs are confusing at best. A example of that would be his promise to start impeachment proceedings as soon as we recaptured the House only to lose his bravery when faced with having to stand up to Speaker Pelosi.

The former governor, a Democrat, said he would "press" to have Mr. Rove answer questions about his possible involvement in the case before Congress, which has already held a hearing on Mr. Siegelman. On Thursday, the House Judiciary Committee signaled its intention to have Mr. Siegelman testify about the nature of his prosecution. http://www.nytimes.com/2008/03/29/washington/28cnd-siegelman.html?_r=2&hp&oref=slogin&oref=slogin

As he left prison Siegelman gave the AP a short statement saying "`I may have lost my freedom for awhile, but I never lost faith,''

Siegelmans cause has been a pretty big deal among kossacks especially after his daughter came and wrote a diary asking for us to help in getting the appeal with a letter writing campaign. I was impressed with her commitment and faith in her father, he is a lucky dad.

Today over at Raw Story they have a new story about Karls new home built on the "Redneck Riviera". Sounds like his kind of place doesn't it ? The same story goes into some of what may be the real details of how and why Karl got his paws all over this raw deal.

Rove has deep roots in Alabama. In 1994 the Business Council of Alabama hired Rove as a consultant for a judicial campaign. Rove worked alongside Republican activist/lobbyist Bill Canary, now the CEO of the Business Counsel of Alabama, to help deliver Alabama's Supreme Court to the Republicans. In 1998 Rove advised William Pryor in his successful bid for Alabama Attorney General. It was Pryor who would go on to certify the ballots for Baldwin County that would give Bob Riley the margin of victory in his bid to unseat Democratic Governor Don Siegelman...

Rove's political ties to Alabama didn't end when he joined George W. Bush's administration as Deputy Chief of Staff. Rove continued to advise Alabama politicians, including Gov. Bob Riley, according to a Republican activist who recounted Rove's four-year covert involvement in a campaign to neutralize Siegelman to Raw Story in November, 2007. http://rawstory.com/news/2008/Rosemary_Beach_Karl_Roves_next_move_0328.html

I look forward to seeing and hearing what the former Governor has to say now that he is free to talk to the Press and what he has to say to Congress. I think we can expect some fireworks at that hearing even tho we can expect Karl to refuse to appear when asked. ( smirk ) This could be one subpoena he couldn't refuse based on Executive Privilege and I would love to see him under oath for once. Come to think of it, I might just write to Conyers demanding he invite Karl to appear. Anyone care to join me ?

A lack of evidence does not stop the Bush Regime from denying due process. So I imagine they feel that evidence of their guilt will not stop them either.

I wonder if Rove will be surprised at the Bush Regime response. Will they throw him over?

Is it just me or does that headline bring forth a really nasty mental image for anyone else?
