I'm thinking we have some died in the wool Ds, and that might explain, in part, the Obama pimping.

They sure placate me as they've saved my life. Hell, I've even seen where some dumb rube protected his family with a gun. So, again, why would an elite such as Obama press forward anti gun legislation if the damn things work so well and pose no threat to the established order?
No, see my second post on this. Guns have value against criminals and rioters, or against other civilians if there is some sort of breakdown in society. So I'm not anti-gun and I see a value in them. I own a great many myself. What I am saying is that the elites don't fear an armed population. At least not with the arms the population is now allowed to legally own. So government elites fearing an insurrection isn't one of the real drivers behind the gun control issue. They don't care if a 375 lb guy in Dallas owns a shotgun. He can't really hurt them with it and they could very easily get it away from him if it ever became a danger to them.

God, fifty years ago, and we're still there at our battle stations. Toss in Germany, Japan and Italy also. In fact, I think our military is in more than 120 nations. And Obama claims he'll remove the kids from Iraq? The boy's still on crack.
It's the people in hick Pennsylvania that are as hysterical about guns as they are about two queers in the tenderloin getting married. At least in hick PA people can escape from the city. I wanted to post what polak at lf writes about the Poles and how they handled the informers, like the one who ratted out polak's grandmother who was killed by the Germans for harboring someone. He said the townspeople burned down the house with the informant and his whole family inside. Informant problem solved. I think this approach is highly effective.
I have friends that are buried there, some God forsaken place, in North Korea, MIA, written off by our elite government. I did not know where the damned place was. But not to worry, I was soon exposed to Korea and China and Russia. Our country had plans to blow them all to hell and gone and I was invited to the first fight. I felt so honored.
Short story.. Many years ago was in Annapolis on legal matters. Met and chatted with elderly gentleman that was head of a prestigious law firm there. During our conversation, he mentioned he owned a cabin near me back here in the hills and said he visited it once or twice a year, maybe for a little fishing. I asked if that was his main purpose of ownership and his answer required no explanation. He said, "We keep it...just in case".
Jeez, call me paranoid, but throughout history rogue governments have confiscated private guns. England and Australia come to mind most recently. I speak for myself afa what I'll do should that happen here. I agree with your above statement, and if given his druthers, Obama would make anyone who uses them against a criminal, a criminal. That won't sell with the legions of unkempt, toothless, low IQ'ers out here. Obama: the more you learn about him, the more ill you become.

One time I was on Saipan with my National Guard SF unit driving about in duce and a halves looking at infiltration and exfiltration points. We stopped at suicide cliffs and the last command post of the Japanese which is a ruptured rock and concrete entity adjacent to the Buddhist memorials at the base of this cliff where so many took their lives when we retook that island. We were leaving and several bus loads of Japanese arrived and besieged us. Our Co let us dismount our vehicles to be props to the delight of this hoard of people who run in herds by nature and always own the finest in audio visual equipment. It was an strange feeling if you knew of the full history of the fight and spilled blood that had been all around where we were just a few short decades before. One interesting thing about it was that the Chimorros selling fruit and libations there had given us refreshments on the house, and when the Japanese showed up, the high prices were back in force. I wonder if we are still well liked there as this was in the eighties, and the sour attitude toward us in Guam might have filtered up into the rest of the Marianna Islands by now.

At opening shot of the Pacific war, Japan held the Northern Marianas Islands. They invaded Guam with 5000 soldiers with full equipment. On Guam the US had 128 Marines, one machine gun, rifles for all and a few .45 cal for the few. Having "visited" Guam a few times during the Korean war, the Japanese were not well liked from war memories. If you have time, use google and take a look at what is going on there now, preparations are being made for much larger affairs than Iraq. If you take the time, study it well with a large world map in view, you will see what is afoot.

God forbid the economy gets as bad I think it's going to. If you live in the suburbs of any city of any size, you may see the day when when local guns laws may not seem such a horrible idea. I'm certain that there are "plants" in public forums, but I'm also certain that on many forums the "trolls" are actually the owners, managers, and mods. i agree with you. we also have to consider our different temperaments and that almost all of us have particular hot button issues, that when pressed, can send us into orbit. but! so many times i've seen folks fight tooth and nail on one thread topic then be on another and they're allied!
