The sad thing is a windfall for oil companies is not a bad thing to politicians. They want to keep their masters happy and the little people no longer matter at all. My biggest problem with Bob Barr is his support for what amounts to amnesty for illegals. Liberal views on immigration are a very common Liberarian disease, unfortunately, and one reason why I'd never join the LP. I would normally refuse to vote for any candidate who doesn't address the Mexinvasion problem, but since it's a protest vote, I'll just go for whatever third party candidate makes the biggest blip on the radar screen. The Constitution Party is appealing in many ways, but I really don't like its theocratic leanings. There's absolutely nothing in the Constitution to justify the imposition of Biblical law, which is what many CPers seem to want. They're more Christian Reconstructionists posing as Constitutionalists. But most importantly, the CP is even more invisible than the LP. In this election, you should make your protest votes count.
I'm back on the fence regarding Bob Barr after he gave kudos to Algore for Gore's Marxist solutions to Global Warming. I haven't looked that deeply into the Constitution Party candidate's (Baldwin) yet, but each of these candidates has major warts, imho. Of all the Pubbies, McCain was my least-preferred candidate in the Primary. And Barry Hussein is the most-Marxist candidate EVER nominated by a major Party to be POTUS. Barr tries to claim he's a libertarian, but he seems to support Algore's globalist solutions to a problem I'm not even convinced exists. How the HECK did we get where we are today? Regards...MUD

Protectionism simply protects monopolies and decreases the American consumer's choices. Before the five years were up, Harley was exporting to Japan.
Nobody ever said protecting individual American companies from foreign competition wouldn't favor those individual companies, but it's a slippery slope to make this a regular practice. Glad to know it was only a five-year fix, though, and if it was directly in response to ILLEGAL "dumping" by the Japanese, I can understand the justification for the action...MUD
