Our two party duopoly has made the US a very strange place to live. If you're super rich, you get all of the benefits of capitalism (profits) without any of its risks costs, because if you go under, you can count on the taxpayers and Uncle Sam to bail you out. If you're poor, you get all of the benefits of socialism (health care, welfare) without paying a penny. If you're middle or working class, you get all of the costs of socialism and capitalism, minus the benefits. The Democrats can count on the support of society's dregs in exchange for welfare. The Republicans can count on support from Wall Street in exchange for corporate welfare. Both parties want your vote, your campaign donations, and your support, but neither will give you squat in return for them.
The GOP's Wall Street cronies want it both ways. They want deregulation, but they also want the taxpayer to bail them out when their bad investment decisions tank. If they want deregulation, let the Wall Street speculators go bankrupt or learn to use their funds responsibly. If they want taxpayer sponsored bailouts, they shouldn't complain that they have to abide by certain guidelines in return. If the FedGov insures your losses, as was the case with Savings and Loans, it's perfectly reasonable for the insurer to say how you can or can't use your money. The ideal solution would be to have no bailout and to deregulate, but that isn't going to happen. Some form of the bailout will be shoved down our throats, and, we'll get the worst of both worlds.

Add to that the Leftist refusal to allow America to harvest our own energy resources (and the resulting shock of higher fuel prices) and it's obvious where this "crisis" was originated. McCain is a disgusting, whiney assed, lying prick who tried to use the office of senator to intimidate those who know the truth about his efforts to bury the MIA controversy, and his treason while relaxing in the arms of Vietnamese hookers in Hanoi. True heroes were POWs like Capt Rocky Versace, US Army who encouraged his men to resist and harassed the enemy so much that they murdered and buried him in an unmarked grave. Meanwhile, SONGBIRD was doing interviews for CUBAN RADIO and "confessing" that he was indeed a war criminal thereby condemning other imprisoned flyers to bone breaking torture and death. And, what's really disgusting is for McCain to rely on the words of career military officers to dispute testimony regarding POWs-MIAs, as if officers are known for going rogue and being unflaggingly critical of bad policy or govt propaganda. They aren't. They don't ascend the chain of command by bucking US Senators, presidents or ranking command officers. They are promoted for being agreeable and for helping to bury the bodies. The generals McCain cited as support for his argument would YES MAN for him as readily as McCain did for the Viet Cong. As the son and grandson of Naval heroes and admirals McCain knew what was expected of him while in captivity, but he simply wasn't up for it and lacked the character to suffer when he could coast. And, coast he did, in hotel rooms with hookers while his fellow captives were getting their guts stomped out and their arms dislocated in the Hoa Lò Prison.
