"The Ballads of Mudboy Slim"

Once upon a time, there was a magical Kingdom, where a God-fearing, industrious people flourished, enjoying their Lives, their Liberty, and their Pursuit of Happiness. These good people were empowered by their trust in a Government of Constitutionally-limited powers, the inherent goodness of their Democratically- chosen Leaders, and their belief that Justice and the Rule of Law ultimately triumphs over all. This Great Kingdom, led by the patriot Reagan, fought the Great Crusade against the evil, totalitarian Red Fiefdom accross the Sea, and were Victorious, inspiring other Peoples--longing for FReedom--to look upon the Kingdom as a Shining City on the Hill!

Until one day, a devious cabal of power-hungry men and womyn infiltrated the Kingdom, casting a wicked spell of Fear, Cynicism, and Doubt that steadily enslaved ever-increasing numbers of these good people in the shackles of Dependency and Entitlement. And the power of these despoilers of freedom--who called themselves Lib'rals--grew immense, as they wrested control of the Halls of Enlightenment, the Chroniclers of Information, the Ministry of Culture, and the gargantuan Bureaucracy of Regulators. As the Great Reagan and his many strong Knights returned from vanquishing the despots of the Red Fiefdom, they wearily attempted to resist this Vast, Left-Wing Conspiracy and the sinister tide of Pessimism that had permeated the Soul of their once-great Kingdom. However, Reagan had grown weak and ill from his heroic efforts, and the defenders of Liberty--who called themselves Conservatives--found themselves without a strong leader, and temporarily without direction. And the Sheeple were spell-bound and silent...

Into this breach strode the vile, boorish ruler, Slick Willie, a charlatan without a soul, devoid of character, and driven only by a shameless Lust for Power (and for young harlots to whom he was not betrothed). The Lib'rals hailed his tyrannical reign and excused his TREASONOUS crimes, as this self- styled "Effete Elite" secretly despised the Kingdom's granting of FReedom and Liberty to the peasant folk, for it empowered their subjects and undercut the Lib'rals' claim on Power. The corrupt Slick Willie--who came to be known as Billzabubba--sought to further the enslavement of the once-strong Sheeple by secretly colluding with the despots of a new, totalitarian Red Fiefdom accross the Sea, and conspired to increase his countrymen's dependence on the Omnipotent Diety of Guv'ment. Still, the Sheeple remained spell-bound and largely silent...

Until, gloriously, a wise man of Noble, yet Humble, descent--who came to be known as the Maja Rushi--arose from the masses, and spread accross the Kingdom his message of The Way Things Ought To Be. An heir to the optimism of Reagan, the Maja Rushi inspired millions to awake from their Mellow Apathy and strike out against the tyrannical rule of the Lib'rals and the reign of the evil Billzabubba. Still, most of the Sheeple remained spell-bound and largely silent...

Finally, a young balladeer--who came to be known as Mudboy Slim--joined the Great Crusade against Slick Willie! This young Patriot combined the optimism of Reagan with the wisdom of the Maja Rushi. Mudboy and the Syntaurs vocalized many great folk songs that enlivened the Masses, causing the corrupt, Lib'ral spell to be broken and Billzabubba and his Lib'ral apologists to be vanquished from Power!!

Thus, there dawned a great new Libertarian Era of ever-shrinking governmental authority and an ever-expanding emphasis on Individual Liberty and Personal Responsibility. Herein are compiled but a few of those songs that have been passed down through the Ages, The Ballads of Mudboy Slim...

"Defeat the ObamaNation...MUD"

Think of George Orwell's book Animal House. How at the end of the book the now thoroughly oppressed by their former comrades the pigs are cold and hungry and looking in from visiting human farmer, to pig, to farmer, to pig, and they all blur into sameness. The pigs and the old oppressors are the same.

Getting Obama, Hillery or McCain in office is always going to be a game where the American people get fooled, cheated and still lose their country.

That is the core point most popular in this forum. You are just not going to get people much worked up over knocking any of the three current candidates to promote any other of the three.

You need to want to start taking the red pill and to look beyond that level of forum political play you show you are into with this post.

I've got no dog in this hunt...George Allen was my guy fer 2008, and he macaca'd hisself. Then, I willed myself to become excited about Mitt Romney (ex- Gov. of Taxachusetts!!)...but he got whupped...

you know I like your tag line about devolving power out of federal leviathon & constitution & stuff. But if you believe that, then you'd be a Ron paul supporter. Please keep participating at 4um, but I read that you voted for bush in 2004. and for most of us we don't understand that. at least you got kicked off of FreeRepublic & that speaks well of you. but it took a long time. all of us were kicked off before you. last but not least I got to tell you that this whole thread starting with your lead seems like a FreeRepublic thread.

I liked Ferret's song.

I know a guy who is 75 years old. He fought in Korea & in vietnam. He was in the infantry right in the fighting in both wars. He told me all about what it was like in Korea when the chinese charged and you didn't know who would be alive and who would be dead in the morning. and you didn't even think it was likely that you yourself would survive very long. but while in vietnam his foot was blown off. he's got a fake leg from below the knee. and he was mustered out of the army after 18 years, 2 years short of a retirement pension. and he makes $637 a month in social security. lives in part of a trailer he rents with no toilet, no shower, his only running water is a hose- bibb outside. His neighbors let him use theirs facilities sometimes. He wants me to help him find a section 8 house. He'll be on a waiting list for a year at least from what I'm told. he can't afford anything else.

why am I telling you this? because some of our people are down-trodden. and those freepers just laugh about it and support the politicians who have changed things up to harm them. the guy I told you about makes so little because after he got out of the army he accomplished nothing good in his life. He didn't pay much into the social security program and so he gets very little out of it. but he spent 18 years in the army and fought in 2 wars. Didn't just serve, he fought, he killed many men and saw many die and was lucky to have survived. and he gets $637 a month.

Today a much smaller proportion of our adult population actually have jobs as compared to pre-2000. I know we had 69% of all adults aged 21-65 having jobs in our country in 2000 and now I believe that figure is around 62%. The things that the fellow was singing about in ferret's song are very real. Freepers laugh about these things. that's a reason why freepers are idiots.

"freepers are idiots"

I've been banned from FreeRepublic.com for almost exactly three years, but I still consider myself a freeper.

With a screen name like "Red", are you more of DailyKos kinda guy? Or the DemonRAT-Underground?

Red would not fit into the mindset at DU or at the Kos well.

We have many former FReepers here who do not remotely resemble the mindsets they once celebrated at JimRob's little shop of horrors.

The Free Republic has become a tool for hire to use to try to spin the public's mindset on candidates and issues instead of a forum to promote conservative thought.

I expect it to continue to not evolving and to keep on driving people away until their Internet market share drops down below the threshold of being a valuable property to hire. Without being bought off, there is no way they could get enough people to support that high a financial target for their four snookerthons they hold a year.

They will eventually fold and go away.

I believe Red is a survivor of FR.

yes that's true. and I used same screen name at FR. and I was banned almost 3 years before Mud was banned which means I am far higher on the totem pole.

I won't fit in at Kos or DU?!@?%! oh well I am a conservative at heart. but i have learned that the left-right paradigm is of no value.

and I like to think that I was the same though less experienced years ago at FR compared to today. Even JimRob at one time did speak against the Republicans & george bush remember. It was he and FR that changed more, not so much we who were kicked out.

and it is just as you said, FR was bought out or most likely bought out and intimidated with something negative. all of us who are veterans of FR know that.

"I am a conservative at heart. but i have learned that the left-right paradigm is of no value."

We'll haveta agree to disagree on that last little statement, Mr. Jones, the Left/Right paradigm is more applicable than ever. Either you want a bigger Federal Leviathan in the future (aka TheLeft)...or else you want a smaller Federal Leviathan (aka TheRight). It's one or the other...not both.

now Mr. Mud - if you want to live in a dream-world that is OK. During the 1990's the congress was ruled by Democrats during the first 5 years and by the Republicans in the 2'nd 5 years. and the growth rate of the government was slightly higher under republicans than under democrats. and that was when the defense spending was held down to 300 billion a year. Then after 2001 the defense spending has multipled up to 800 billion a year when you count the war- spending. Both GW Bush & GHW Bush proved to be very much fans of big- government.

Perhaps you are a Ron Paul supporter then. as he's the only major figure who wants to reduce government.
