I'd be shocked if more than a couple of hundred people showed up; if that.

I didn't see any TV yesterday. Perhaps Tim Russert or Chris Mathews or maybe Brit Hume did a piece on it. I'm pretty sure C-Span was there with their cameras.

There is coverage of the rally at some of the Ron Paul sites like the 'Daily Paul' and at 'antiwar.com'...estimates seem to be around 400 - 500 people...

That lack of supporters can be laid at Pauls feet.

RP

Just think about it, had he stayed in the Revolution he claimed he was leading the O'philes would still be in deep cover.

Are they serious? That was Ron Paul's big rally?

Nah, can't be. I thought it was going to be in June. I have been checking his campaign site for news but haven't seen any.

Like Perot, Paul left us holding an empty sack, with a hole in the bottom.

It seems that no one knows what day the "real" march is.

I'm beginning to think that RP has totally given up on us.

I've felt that way since the Trotsky memo.

I don't think anyone was wrong about RP, I think someone from Cheney's office got to him; hence the use of the very unlike RP word Trotsky.

Marxist right? Obama is a marxist too. So, getting obama would be like getting Ron Paul.

But -- so the questions you're most likely to get about me, 'Well, what is this guy going to do for me? What's the concrete thing?'...So we'll go down a series of talking points.

But the truth is, is that, our challenge is to get people persuaded that we can make progress when there's not evidence of that in their daily lives. Difficult to tell as many people have doubt as to who wrote the memo.

Knowing the author as a positive would help.

You know Cyni, with all the non-stop slamming of Ron Paul, it really makes sense that you're just a shill. The thought that you never gave a penny to his campaign makes a lot of sense.

In Cyni's defense, I was a huge Ron Paul supporter myself, until I saw a total lack of effort on his part to carry on the campaign. I'm still getting emails from McCain, whose campaign I never once contacted, yet I've received nothing at all from Ron Paul since January or so. I've signed up both with his website and with the local meetup groups, and there's been nothing, zip, nada, zilch in terms of any updates or plans of action from either him or his campaign.

I do think people here are right, in that he was either "given an offer he couldn't refuse", or outright gave up.

I appreciate your strong respect and admiration for the man, but something isn't quite right with the situation, and I don't think it's a sign of being a shill in bringing it up...

No one on this board was a more ardent supporter of Ron Paul than I was, but he has virtually disappeared on us. Where is this big march? When is it? Where is mention of it on his site? Where are the emails promoting it?

You do realize you're talking about the guy who returns some of his congressional pay to the treasury, don't you? And that's just for starters. If he gave up... if... then I think there's no one here who can rightly cast the first stone.

People like Cyni apparently expected Ron Paul to be a savior with the power to walk on water, call down plagues of frogs and locusts from on-high and maybe raise the dead. And because he turned out to be an ordinary man without comic book powers, he's a turncoat and betrayer. To me, that's, at best, just stupid.

I appreciate your strong respect and admiration for the man, but something isn't quite right with the situation,

No, nothing's wrong. At worst, Ron Paul is just one more patriot who did his best to change the world and failed to do so.

and I don't think it's a sign of being a shill in bringing it up...

Bringing it up a few times, as conversations warrant, no. Every 3rd post, I'm not so sure.

I appreciate your comments.

All...

This was something that Christine and I kept to ourselves, but to clarify any distortions being spread I will say this...

Christine and I collaborated on the Ron Paul effort for 4um. Only the two of us, at my instigation.

I underwrote the entire cost of the intended ad at a cost of nearly $2000, knowing full well the members of 4um would never come up with that amount of money. The talkers and non doers indeed were silent, they know who they are.

I admonished Christine at the time that this effort would indeed show those members that were Americans, and those that were not friends at all, rather they were in hiding, not distressed with our government, but rather just partisans waiting to use 4um.

As a result, I ate several hundred dollars of the cost, which would have been much more had it not been for two Americans that stepped forward to help shoulder the burden. Beyond that was my regular contributions to Paul, so that we might at least have a choice, even though winning was never a possibility.

Only Christine knows the people that contributed and the amounts, the number of contributors vs the talkers on 4um was a sad but true indication between Americans and partisan believers.

When Paul took a dive, and suddenly became a devout republican, only the naive and gullible would have kept sending money. For those that have not done their own research, Paul had done this once before, due to pressure from Pat Buchanan, leaving his supporters in the lurch. It is all on the record for those that care to look.

Nearly a year ago I warned Christine that with passing months, many of our friends would out themselves as partisan believers, not as friends looking for a better government. With that in mind I compiled a list of those that would reveal themselves, that list proved to be 100 per cent correct, except I overlooked three "friends" that have since showed their true colors.
