Hillary Clinton commands the support of the highest-profile Jewish politicians and fund-raisers in Pennsylvania (more to come on that later in the week). But Barack Obama57;s biggest Jewish backers in the state have issued a letter explaining why they like their guy:

March 31, 2008

Dear Friend:

We are writing as American Jews from all across Pennsylvania to ask that you join us in supporting Senator Barack Obama for President of the United States.

Much has been said and many questions have been raised within the Jewish community in recent weeks about Senator Obama57;s sensitivity to our community and his record on Israel. Unfortunately, much of the discourse has been based more on politics and positioning and less on facts and fair-minded analysis. We are writing to set the record straight and tell you why we intend to vote for Barack Obama.

Each of us – us members of the Jewish community – takes great pride in our commitment to Judaism. For us, the strategy of assigning guilt by association – as has been to done to Senator Obama – runs counter to our teachings and dishonors Jewish law and ethical traditions. Jewish law neither condemns thoughts nor does it denounce the musing of other57;s hearts. By contrast, under Jewish law, we – all of us – are judged by our actions and our actions alone.

Senator Obama has earned our respect and gratitude because of his support for traditional Jewish values and his commitment to a peaceful and prosperous Israel. His support for Tikkun Olam – 60;repairing the world61; – and social justice is evident through his accomplishments in the Illinois Senate and the U.S. Senate. Without exception, Senator Obama has voted 100% consistently with the position of AIPAC on foreign aid and all other legislation and resolutions affecting Israel. These are the kind of actions for which we are grateful as a community. And, these are facts. For a more in depth look at the Senator57;s strong record on issues that matter to our community, please click here.

Earlier this month, responding to withering criticism of the pastor of his church, Senator Obama delivered a courageous and powerful speech that demonstrated his unique ability to talk frankly about the continuing racial tension in our country. His speech itself will not lead to racial reconciliation or a complete understanding of our different religious and cultural traditions, but it has opened a new door for Americans of all backgrounds to begin speaking openly with one another. It is a speech that will serve as a teaching tool for all our citizens and will surely serve the interests of the Jewish community. In trying to place the speech in historical context, The New York Times editorialized that the 60;Inaugural addresses by Abraham Lincoln and Franklin D. Roosevelt come to mind, as does John F. Kennedy57;s 1960 speech on religion70;61;

While we are profoundly disturbed by the unpatriotic, bigoted and anti-Semitic comments of the retired pastor of Senator Obama57;s church, we are moved that Barack stood up at the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia earlier this month, and 60;condemned in unequivocal terms the statements of Reverend Wright61; and expressed his own views on issues near and dear to the heart and soul of the Jewish community.

Specifically, in repudiating the remarks of his former pastor, Senator Obama said Reverend Wright 60;expressed a profoundly distorted view of this country…a view that sees the conflicts in the Middle East as rooted primarily in the actions of stalwart allies like Israel, instead of emanating from the perverse and hateful ideologies of radical Islam.61;

Rabbi Abraham Joshua Heschel, a great rabbinic scholar of the 20th century, was known equally for his theological scholarship and as well as for having marched alongside the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. during the civil rights movement.

Heschel once recalled that when marching in Selma, he was confronted by a host of people who were filled with hate and ignorance. They jeered at the Rabbi who afterwards declared to his fellow Jews: 60;When I marched in Selma, my feet were praying.61; Later, Heschel would recount that while he had always found comfort in his Siddur, his prayer book, it was in Selma where he learned to pray with his feet as well.

We have each chosen to pray with our feet and stand with Barack Obama because he is sensitive to the issues of the Jewish community and a stalwart supporter of Israel.

We respectfully ask that you stand with Senator Barack Obama and vote for him on April 22.

Jewish leadership also issued a declaration of war against Germany by all Jews worldwide in 1933. Now they are supporting Barack. With their history you know they are up to no good. For this reason alone rational people should not support Obama.

God is always good!

If you think "Jewish leadership" is supporting Obama, I strongly suggest you read Philip Weiss's blog Mondoweiss. He is constantly complaining about Jewish leadership's opposition to Obama, and he has lots of cites and sources to back up his assertions.

To reason, indeed, he was not in the habit of attending. His mode of arguing, if it is to be so called, was one not uncommon among dull and stubborn persons, who are accustomed to be surrounded by their inferiors. He asserted a proposition; and, as often as wiser people ventured respectfully to show that it was erroneous, he asserted it again, in exactly the same words, and conceived that, by doing so, he at once disposed of all objections. - Macaulay, "History of England," Vol. 1, Chapter 6, on James II.

in 1933.

December 15, 1922 - The CFR endorses World Government in its magazine "Foreign Affairs." Author Philip Kerr states: "Obviously there is going to be no peace or prosperity for mankind as long as the earth remains divided into 50 or 60 independent states, until some kind of international system is created. The real problem today is that of world government."

1932 - "Plan for Peace" by American Birth Control League founder Margaret Sanger is published. She calls for coercive sterilization, mandatory segregation, and rehabilitative concentration camps for all "dysgenic stocks," including Blacks, Hispanics, American Indians and Catholics. [The American Birth Control League eventually becomes Planned Parenthood - the nation's foremost promoter and provider of abortion services. Many today are not aware of the racist origins of Planned Parenthood.]

1933 - "The Shape of Things to Come" by H. G. Wells is published. Wells predicts a second world war around

1940, originating from a German-Polish dispute. After 1945 there would be an increasing lack of public safety in "criminally infected" areas. The plan for the "Modern World State" would succeed on its third attempt, and come out of something that occurred in Basra, Iraq. The book also states: "Although world government had been plainly coming for some years, although it had been endlessly feared and murmured against, it found no opposition anywhere."

Nov. 21, 1933 - In a letter to Col. Edward M. House, President Franklin Roosevelt writes: "The real truth of the matter is, as you and I know, that a financial element in the larger centers has owned the government since the days of Andrew Jackson."

1934 - "The Externalization of the Hierarchy" by Alice Bailey is published. Bailey is an occultist, taking over from Annie Besant as head of the Theosophical Society. Bailey's works are channeled from a spirit guide, the Tibetan Master [demon spirit] Djwahl Kuhl. [Her teachings form the foundation for the current New Age movement.] She writes: "The hour for the ancient mysteries has arrived. These Ancient Mysteries were hidden in numbers, in ritual, in words, and in symbology; these veil the secret. There is no question therefore that the work to be done in familiarizing the general public with the nature of the Mysteries is of paramount importance at this time. These Mysteries will be restored to outer expression through the medium of the Church and the Masonic Fraternity." She further states: "Out of the spoliation of all existing culture and civilization, the new world order must be built." [The book is published by the Lucis Trust, incorporated originally in New York as the Lucifer Publishing Company. Lucis Trust is a United Nations NGO (Non- Governmental Organization) and has been a major player at the recent UN summits. Later, Assistant Secretary General of the U.N. Robert Muller would credit the creation of his World Core Curriculum for education to the underlying teachings of Djwahl Kuhl, via Alice Bailey's writings on the subject.]

Evidence?

The lively discussions on his forum for and against his views give no indication of this. Perhaps you haven't read them.

"This kinda blows a hole in the assertion that Jews don't want this guy."

It is common political practice to respond to a charge that a demographic group like Jews and people like Israelis generally dislike someone by providing names of people in that set of people disproving this.

I expected you to take that spin and promote it, but it does not convince me or impress me with the notion you are right.

Ah social justice. There's that phrase again. That came up a bit in his Race Speech.

So it's actions that matter, not words?

Okayyyyyyy, who's zooming who then...

Using that standard, I am not reassured in the least about Obama. 20 years of hate speech blasted in his ears, on tape, spoken about in his book, 'you know how whites'll do ya', and yet.......actions are the key to forgiveness and reassurance.

I want to see some reassuring and immediate action on domestic issues that benefits the State of America. It's clear his foreign policy is cast.
