I don't shop at regular stores, and haven't for years. I shop a lot at thrift stores, which I consider a treasure hunt.
Last week, I found an intriguing rocking-chair. When I checked the sticker on the bottom, it was a Heywood-Wakefield, which has been around from the late 1800's. I estimate this one is from the 1940's. And it was only $30.
It's not exactly like this one; it was a wooden seat and horizontal slats in the back. It's a bit worn, but still has the original stain. Since it creaked a bit, I had to drive six screws in it to tighten it up. But it works just fine.
