Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton is pulling away from her rival Sen. Barack Obama in a poll of likely voters in Tuesday's Pennsylvania Democratic presidential primary, a poll completed late Sunday shows. Mrs. Clinton of New York leads Mr. Obama of Illinois by 10 percentage points - the largest lead between the two candidates in any poll in Pennsylvania in the past week. The poll was conducted by David Paleologos, director of the Suffolk University Political Research Center. When asked whom they would vote for in November if their candidate - Mrs. Clinton or Mr. Obama - isn't the Democratic nominee, 20 percent of likely Pennsylvania Democratic primary voters in the poll said they would vote for Sen. John McCain of Arizona, the presumptive Republican nominee. Four percent said they would vote for third party candidate Ralph Nader, the poll shows. Pennsylvania is considered crucial for Mrs. Clinton, who is struggling to remain viable despite trailing Mr. Obama in both delegates and the popular vote so far in the longest Democratic presidential primary contest in the memory of many of today's voters. Mrs. Clinton has been leading by as little as three points and as many as six points in the most recent John Zogby polls of likely Democratic primary voters. Pressure on Mrs. Clinton from some fellow Democrats to concede the nomination to Mr. Obama is expected to grow if she fails to win Tuesday's primary in the Keystone State by a significant margin. In the poll, Mrs. Clinton got the nod from 52 percent of the state's Democrats for the nomination and Mr. Obama won the affection of 42 percent. "Her 10 point lead is significant because it keeps her alive in the Democratic primary," Mr. Paleologos told The Washington Times. "The issue for the Democrats is not so much as about this primary going on and on but about 20 percent of them – the sore losers - saying they will vote for John McCain if their favored Democrat isn't their party's nominee." In turn, what is significant about that is these are not independents planning to vote in the Democratic primary but registered Democrats. "Some of them could be people who switched from Republican to Democrat to vote in this primary but had always intended to vote for McCain," Mr. Paleologos said. But the Democrats cannot afford the political spillage of support from their party to Mr. McCain – or to Mr. Nader, for that matter. "In November, the contest is for independent voters who, in a year like this, could be predisposed against the current administration – the party in power," Mr. Paleologos said. "Democrats can't begin to make case to independents till they lock up their own core supporters, and this poll suggests there is a problem holding on to those core voters." Mrs. Clinton may owe her gain as much to a top-flight ground team in the state, the help of its Democratic governor, Ed Rendell, and some quiet appeals to black Pennsylvanians as to Mr. Obama's "bitterness" comment last week about rural voters' affection for religion and guns. Most Democrats in the Suffolk poll said he hadn't intended to demean these rural voters, and most respondents in the poll also were in a forgiving mood about Mrs. Clinton's gaffe involving a false claim that she and her daughter came under sniper fire in a visit to Bosnia.

We need Hillary to hang in a few more weeks for the sake of the children. I have to admit I love watching the Ds destroy themselves. I hope the Os eventually form their own branch of this party, perhaps using the perpetually nasty Michelle Obama as a "leader"?

I saw that also. My hunch, though, is that Clinton will win this by double digits. There is no chance either of the Dem candidates can even make it to 200 electoral votes in the fall.

I live in a sparsely populated area. (Hill billy white trash gun lovers etc) In this county and the one east, over 1000 people switched registration from ind and pub to dem. Tomorrow we will see their reason for switching, altho I spect we already know the answer.
I don't take anything from the Moonie Times all that seriously. They are in bed with Moon to try to deflate Obama, and the timing of this certainly supports that theory as to why this poll that contradicts so many others is put out by them now on the eve of this primary. What is most striking to me is there are too many juicy tidbits of information they don't want anyone to see. I could see Hillary keeping their secrets, but not Obama. Robert Francis Kennedy was murdered after he won the California Primary because of fear he would be in a position to ferret out information on the coup of shadowy power elite that killed his brother John. So we already know that they will go into the realm of doing what they have to do to advance their agenda despite any jeopardy of exposure of who they are and what they are doing. I want to see Obama destroy their preferred choice of Hillary to run against McCain. I want them to sweat and who and what they are to be flushed out into public view. I want to see them put in the hot seat of being at risk of exposing themselves far earlier then they want. At the very least, anyone who takes this mess over will need to expose the Bush administration for what it has done by exposing the paperwork to back up their claims. Otherwise, how will they be able to show how bad it was when they began to clean up the mess, and prove it wasn't their doing? They fear a another President like Kennedy who royally pissed them off by not being manipulated into attacking Cuba by going along with the Bay of Pigs invasion. They are not going to want to gamble with any wild cards like someone they don't completely control being in the White House at this stage of the game of their power grab called the NAU. I wouldn't put martial law out of the realm of possibility if they upset enough people by preventing or to prevent Obama from succeeding Bush. Blackwater certainly has enough troops to secure things as they would want them to be. I see an Obama on the verge of taking power putting them in a horrible dilemma, and I would like to see that happen.

You know Cyni, I got over that little old White Guilt thingie years ago when I realized that wearing the hair shirt mourning about thew needless genocide and cultural extinction of so may original inhabitants of North America was pointless and that a play it as it lay attitude was more constructive and useful. I flat don't care what Obama's racial makeup is beyond the aspects of how it influences the election race. I would imagine I am not the only one who feels this way. Why worry about the first one elected of any demographic grouping when the country is on the verge of tanking into the NAU anyway? It is a pointless exercise. I have been part of the local activist community for many years. I have seen them rationalize perceived craziness they see emanating from their fellow travelers on this planet in just as concise and simple a manner as you do here. I have made some of them very irritated by popping their balloons and showing the fallacies of their assumptions, and this experience lends to me the belief that your assumption here is much the same as some I questioned pertaining to the environmental movement. You like it because it is simple and comforting to you, but it fits reality as well as a size 5 shoe on a woman's size 8 foot.

I think this is true, and the PTB know that too.
As a country, the USA has deeply injured the world and it's a national obligation to right that wrong as much as possible.
