Just wanted to share a favorite of mine. Seems like a good song for this primary, at least it is if Pennsylvania becomes someon'e Election 2008 Waterloo. ;-)
When Louis Armstrong was young there were many many musicians all over America who made a living doing live music.
Revelation 6:6 And I heard a voice in the midst of the four beasts say, A measure of wheat for a penny, and three measures of barley for a penny; and [see] thou hurt not the oil and the wine.
I really like him. He always cheers me up and inspires me when I listen to his recordings. His contribution to Jazz was amazing. It can safely be said jazz would have not grown into what it is without his contribution, for example how he shifted jazz's focus from collective improvisation to the solo player and improvised soloing.
I should mention that I really love Danny Kaye's work too. He has always been a favorite of mine. Some found his verbal gymnastic annoying at times, but there was an intelligence and warmth to the man that always struck a deep chord with me.
Of course, pilots as respected for their skills in the cockpit as he had been always was a big plus to me being from an aviation oriented family as I am.
