I have to be honest, I'm completely distressed at what's happened to this forum. The fighting and the distrust between those for and those against Obama has gotten to the point where, in my opinion, it's destroying the forum. What's the point of having an open free speech venue when everyone is bozo'ing everyone else?

When I read my mission statement and what Freedom4um was created to be, I don't even recognize the place anymore. There will be changes made in the near future as I decide what is best for the continued growth of this forum.

Actually, I have never actually said I support him. What I have said is that I am undecided between Barr and Obama.

OK would you still be considering him if he suggested that limiting the 1st amendment was ok?

For things like shouting "Fire!" in a theater and other things that create a clear and present danger.

That does present a clear and present danger, but how would my owning a full auto m16 present a CLEAR and PRESENT danger to anyone?

Limiting my right to own a full auto would be the same as limiting your right to say anything, because any word coming out of your mouth can be potentially as dangerous as me having a full auto in my closet.

As for them seizing his land, I suspect that had to do with something he was keeping there, or the condition it was in, and not just their illegal entry.

In one breath you can say it turned your stomach, and in the next you think it is essentially his fault that they entered illegally, found what they wanted to find, and seized his land?

yeah I came across that video and read all the comments, its funny but one link posted actually led back to here and a post here by fred mertz. if you do a search for my comments to him i think youll find the link and articles about the guy in the video. he did lose his home which was seized and auctioned.

some people there at youtube posted that they'd have dropped both of them on the spot.

well, everyone has their line in the sand.

i leave it to the individuals conscience. i have often said my definite line in the sand is CPS. I would never allow anyone to steal my kids and i will never understand why anyone allows it. yes, in such a hypothetical scenario the govt would kill the person defending their rights, and burn their house down. But you know what? it would have been worth it.

On the other hand in know personally many people who have gotten their kids seized by the state and eventually gotten them back. so if they had reacted like i would, they would not be alive and happy and together today. But no, i don't care. i could never allow such a thing to happen. such things must never be allowed, IMO. ever.

the hypothetical which i refer to would be nearly identical to this video, theyd come with their jackboots in tow and violate the family. man this video makes me sick.

(CBS) What if we told you the Pentagon has a ray gun? And what if we told you it can stop a person in his tracks without killing or even injuring him? Well, it’s true. You can’t see it, you can't hear it, but as CBS News correspondent David Martin experienced first hand, you can feel it.

I'm not a staunch supporter of Obama by any means. I've come to the conclusion that he's probably the least of the 3 evils currently "in the running"; and that's about the best I can say for him.

That's the way I feel. He's the best choice of the three choices we are offered, and not necessarily the best overall candidate. And if that makes me an "Obama Worshiper" then so be it.

Mostly I'm tired of the same old wild eyed, spittle dripping, right wing hysteria in lieu of rational discussion of the Obama candidacy. It harks back to the days of the breathless reports of Bill Clinton having sex with aliens from Venus at the Mena airport - anything to rile up the bitter goobers out in the trailer park.

What I find confusing is people who claim there isn't a dimes worth of difference between the three candidates and who then wear themselves out attacking Obama 24/7. And who destroy their reputations trying to silence people who want to hold a rational discussion on the guy.

If it's true that there isn't a dimes worth of difference between the three, why should they give a rats ass who wins? But their actions prove that they obviously do care who wins.

That's probably just because they're reacting against all of the pro-Obama material on the forum. There are only one or two people here who said they would vote for McCain, but it seems like half the people at the 4um are Obama supporters. And some of these don't just use the "lesser evil" argument, they seem to be in love with the guy.

So naturally there are more posts, pro and con, about Obama than the other candidates. There aren't too many McCain supporters to spar with, or BS about what a wonderful guy Mad Mac is to rebut, which I guess is a good thing.

Speaking for myself, I spend about the same amount of time posting information about why McCain is unfit to be President as Obama. The only reason I don't have as much to say about Hillary is that she's not likely to be in the general election.

I missed that thread, so perhaps I'm missing the point, but everyone knew when the 2d Amendment was ratified that innocent people would be murdered.

The only reason I don't have as much to say about Hillary is that she's not likely to be in the general election.

That's the way I feel about it. And I think it's a good thing too. I don't like what I've seen of her and I've tried to give her the benefit of the doubt and to cut through some of the mindless demonization.

IMO, the choice is between McCain and Obama. And it's not a good choice. But given the past 8 years, I'd take an unknown over four more years of what we just had. And it seems to me that more of the same is exactly what McCain is promising us.

But even if McCain is just pandering to the Limbaugh crowd, and that's a real possibility, there is still his apparent willingness to go to war. And that nixes him for me. I don't think the country could survived a genuine knock down drag out war at this point.

There's also the issue of the economy. We're in real trouble here and Bush's policies haven't worked. In fact, it's easy to argue that they caused the problem. McCain's promise to continue them doesn't get him a lot of points in my book.

your comment reminds me of the chapter in james bovard's book LOST RIGHTS: THE DESTRUCTION OF AMERICAN LIBERTY in which he covers george bush senior's signings of massive new 'wetlands' protections and all the effects that had.

The book is over 10 yrs old and is one of the best i have ever read. a very well written and engaging comprehensive treatise on the destruction of every arena of freedom. i think it should be a must read for every high school kid.

I think the militia wouldnt give a shit about your land, you have to take care of it yourself because when it comes down to it youre, we're, all on our own. Other than very dedicated family or friends, who all have their own family interests to safguard. who would really risk everything for someone elses land?

example, there's a case of a 911 truther in a very well know and lauded truth group going up against phony charges brought on by FOX NEWS in los angeles. do you think he can find one measly 'patriot' lawyer to help him? ha.

In your absurd hypothetical, given an either/or (do we keep the 2nd or not) yes, I'd be forced to kill an innocent girl. The alternative, to me, would be a nation of 300 million gun less slaves.

Finally, JT gives some accounting for his decision.

I'm somewhat tempted to pursue this further, but it would take some effort that I think will be wasted. Please tell me if I should bother.

JT was the only one who answered as if he were FORCED to choose between the life of one child and millions of other men, women, and children. that certainly doesn't mean that his decision was for his own personal interests.

My hypothetical scenario did not offer a choice between causing the death of 1 person vs causing the death of millions of others. It latter choice was only for securing the 2A. IF JT equated the latter with the death of millions, then that would be some moral justification in his favor.

But that was not the option I had painted.

got this from RTR:

I don't carry a gun to kill people. I carry a gun to keep from being killed.

I don't carry a gun to scare people. I carry a gun because sometimes this world can be a scary place.

I don't carry a gun because I'm paranoid. I carry a gun because there are real threats in the world.

I don't carry a gun because I'm evil. I carry a gun because I have lived long enough to see the evil in the world.

I don't carry a gun because I hate the government. I carry a gun because I understand the limitations of government.

I don't carry a gun because I'm angry. I carry a gun so that I don't have to spend the rest of my life hating myself for failing to be prepared.

I don't carry a gun because I want to shoot someone. I carry a gun because I want to die at a ripe old age in my bed, and not on a sidewalk somewhere tomorrow afternoon.

I don't carry a gun because I'm a cowboy. I carry a gun because, when I die and go to heaven, I want to be a cowboy.

I don't carry a gun to make me feel like a man. I carry a gun because men know how to take care of themselves and the ones they love.

I don't carry a gun because I feel inadequate. I carry a gun because unarmed and facing three armed thugs, I am inadequate.

I don't carry a gun because I love it. I carry a gun because I love life and the people who make it meaningful to me.

John Steinbeck issued a warning that all should remember: 'Don't pick a fight with an old man. If he is too old to fight, he'll just kill you.

Personally, I carry a gun because I'm too young to die and too old to take an ass kickin'.

And remember, GOD created man, Sam Colt made them equal.

Remember this statement: "When the government fears the people, you have liberty. When the people fear the government [or the IRS, for that matter], you have Tyranny." (Thomas Jefferson, author of the Declaration of Independence of the United States)

it's a nonsensical discussion. we dont have to nor should we give up our basic human right of self defense in promise of ''world peace''. what bullshit.

anyone who would fall for a gun grabber's promise of less war is deluded. THE ONLY REASON ANY POLITICAN EVER WANTS TO DISARM ANYONE, IS TO ULTIMATELY KILL THEM. no one sincerely for peace would ever try to oppress man's natural right, IMO.

applauding...i soooo concur!
