I have to be honest, I'm completely distressed at what's happened to this forum. The fighting and the distrust between those for and those against Obama has gotten to the point where, in my opinion, it's destroying the forum. What's the point of having an open free speech venue when everyone is bozo'ing everyone else? When I read my mission statement and what Freedom4um was created to be, I don't even recognize the place anymore. There will be changes made in the near future as I decide what is best for the continued growth of this forum.

If the RATS are unwilling to defend their viewpoints, and instead become automatons bent of spewing Obama talking points (but not engaging in rational debate), you lose a lot of what is special about this place. Considering the topic of this thread, making such an off-the-wall accusation here and now against you, leads me to suspect that there may be some here who would like to see this 4um shut down. I wonder why?

Most of the discussions have been quite civil. I have yet to see one poster going completely off the deep end and engaging in offers of violence or offering commentaries on parentage as of yet. To my mind, things are still civil when people are relatively on-topic and avoiding threats of violence or inquiring as to whether one's parents are brothers or not. The problem is really people wanting to live in an echo chamber and not willing to see ideas or ideals challenged. While that is their right, it says more about them than it does anything else. Please leave the bozo filter in place. I use it as a "short-term timeout" function when needed, then remove the filter a couple of weeks later after people have a chance to cool down.

IMHO, the Bozo filter is used (in my case) to filter those brick walls whose minds can not be changed who constantly post things I totally DISAGREE With, such as the hard caore Obamaphiles. IN THE INTEREST OF FREEDOM OF CHOICE, I choose to filter these posts to streamline the visible posts which saves me a lot of time since I don;t have to sift through the diatribes I disagree with..unless I feel like it. I say do NOT get rid of BOZO. I want to a streamlined forum where I can pick and choose whose posts I read. My time is limited and valuable. Another perspective. Indie

"Debate" is not necessarily the be-all end-all. What's wrong with a magazine that gives different opinions about world events? Sure the writers may not read one another's articles, but the general readership will. Do you want to FORCE the writers to read each other's articles? If you want all the articles to agree, maybe, but that may be because some writers walk away.

Since the bozo has become a tool to demoralize in my opinion (I just picked up another during this thread) I think a MAXIMUM number might be the way to go. LF had a goofy rating system that was misused in a similar fashion. If anyone has more than three to five people they can't stand, perhaps they're in the wrong place.
this is what is distressing. the level of distrust among us now. both sides accusing the other of an agenda to destroy or shut down 4um.

And I suspect Christine knows me a lot better than she knows you. It's not about sides, it's about privacy. So, it's up to her. If the webmaster can't be trusted, as you have said, you have your rights to do whatever you want, then, of course, it's up to everyone to decide whether it's worth it to accomodate your nose in their butt.
