WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Democrat Barack Obama on Thursday did not rule out selecting rival Hillary Clinton as his vice presidential running mate if he ultimately defeats her in a race in which he has an almost insurmountable lead.

"There's no doubt that she's qualified to be vice president, there's no doubt she's qualified to be president," Obama told NBC News.

In a CNN interview, he said he had not wrapped up the Democratic presidential nomination, but when he does, he will start going through the process of selecting a running mate.

"She is tireless, she is smart. She is capable. And so obviously she'd be on anybody's short list to be a potential vice presidential candidate," said Obama, who inched closer to winning the nomination by routing Clinton in North Carolina and almost defeating her in Indiana on Tuesday.

Some Democrats are saying Obama and Clinton would be a formidable team against Republican John McCain in the race to the November election.

According to a CBS News/New York Times poll released last week, a majority of both Obama and Clinton voters say they would favor a so-called "Dream Ticket" involving both candidates.

The Clinton campaign has deflected such talk. Clinton campaign spokesman Howard Wolfson told reporters on Wednesday that it was premature to discuss such a ticket and he had not heard her express any interest in the vice presidency. Subscribe to *Racist 2008*

No it won't. They've already accepted the premise that Obama is the great white/black/brown hope. Any nagging in the back of their minds will be easily rationalized.

I'm quite sure he isn't "open" to this idea. He'd spend his term in the shadow of the Clinton's. If this is true, it's being forced down his throat by the PTB.

Think JFK-LBJ, Abe Zapruder.

This is just Obama easing Hillary out. He's not stupid. Hillary will not be his veep. A veep poll at leftish Huffington Post shows Hillary with only 5% support. The leading veep candidates are:

1) Senator Jim Webb (w/ 20+%)

2) Governor Bill Richardson (w/ 15+%)

3) Governor Kathleen Sebelius (of Kansas!) (w/ 13+%)

If Obama picks Hillary, he's got a deathwish in more ways than one.

On the other hand, if it's Obama/Webb, the Bush/Clinton McCain/Hillary hydra (and the GOP generally) is toast.

Jim Webb is no liberal. He (and alot of other conservative Dems who ran and won in 2006) is the future of a Democratic Party that has learned from its mistakes and is set to take back red state America from the fascist closet-gay corporate pirates of the GOP. If Obama picks him as veep, that will be a big signal that the Dems have realized the moment before them and will seize the opportunity they now have to reclaim the Reagan Dems and draw disgusted libertarian/non- fascist now ex- Republicans (like me). This has the potential to realign American politics so as to utterly anihilate the contemptable, wholely corrupt and downright traitorous GOP. It could be glorious.

He won't comprehend what you are saying, nor be receptive to it.

Nor would H be his VP. My thoughts are that she will actively work (behind the scenes) to ensure a McCain presidency so she can run against him in 4 years.

Webb couldn't wait to sign on to the Matthew Sheppard Hate Crimes bill, that potentially could have made political speach a crime.

Webb is a politician first, an American second.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Matthew_Shepard_Act

The Matthew Shepard Act (officially, the Local Law Enforcement Hate Crimes Prevention Act of 2007 or LLEHCPA), HR 1592 is a proposed federal bill that would expand the 1969 United States federal hate-crime law to include crimes motivated by a victim's actual or perceived gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, or disability. The bill would also:

The bill passed the House of Representatives on May 3, 2007, 237 to 180, with Barney Frank, one of two openly gay Representatives, presiding.[2]

On 11 July, 2007, Senator Edward Kennedy introduced the bill (S 1105) in the Senate as an amendment to the Senate Defense Reauthorization bill (HR 1585). The Senate hate crime amendment had 43 cosponsors, including four Republicans. After Republicans staged a filibuster on a troop-withdrawal amendment to the defense bill, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid delayed the votes on the hate crime amendment and the defense bill until September.[3]

The bill passed the Senate on September 27, 2007, as an amendment to the Defense Reauthorization bill. The cloture vote was 60 to 39 in favor. The amendment was then approved by voice vote.[4] President Bush has indicated he may veto the DoD authorization bill if it reaches his desk with the hate crimes legislation attached.[5] [6]

[edit] Background

The 1969 federal hate-crime law (18 U.S.C. § 245(b)(2)) extends only to crimes motivated by actual or perceived race, color, religion, or national origin, and only while the victim is engaging in a federally-protected activity, like voting or going to school.[7] Penalties, under both the existing law and the LLEHCPA, for hate crimes involving firearms are prison terms of up to 10 years, while crimes involving kidnapping, sexual assault, or murder can bring life terms.

According to FBI statistics, of the over 113,000 hate crimes since 1991, 55% were motivated by racial bias, 17% by religious bias, 14% sexual orientation bias, 14% ethnicity bias, and 1% disability bias.[8]

The Act is supported by thirty-one state Attorneys General and over 210 national law enforcement, professional, education, civil rights, religious, and civic organizations, including the AFL- CIO, the American Medical Association, the American Psychological Association, and the NAACP.[9] A November 2001 poll indicated that 73% of Americans favor hate-crime legislation covering sexual orientation.[10]

The LLEHCPA was introduced in substantially similar form in each Congress since the 105th Congress in 1999. The 2007 bill expands on the earlier versions (originally called the Local Law Enforcement Enhancement Act) by including ="

" href="/wiki/Transgender" title="Transgender">transgender provisions and making it explicit that the law should not be interpreted to restrict people's freedom of speech or association.[11]

James Dobson, founder of socially conservative lobbying group Focus on the Family, opposed the Act, arguing that it would effectively "muzzle people of faith who dare to express their moral and biblical concerns about homosexuality."[7] However, HR 1592 contains a "Rule of Construction" which specifically provides that "Nothing in this Act... shall be construed to prohibit any expressive conduct protected from legal prohibition by, or any activities protected by the free speech or free exercise clauses of, the First Amendment to the Constitution."

They don't like anyone who gets in the way of what Bill and Hil feels is their franchise, the Presidency.

Bill has only felt his own pain these past seven years and would make Billy Carter, Jimmy's old attention getting albatross seem like an amateur.

He would be a tiresome troll with his fingers in everyone's pie.

Not to mention, that unless Hil put a lock on the Oval Office, I'm sure he would hump an intern or two in there for old times sake.
