Webb's bill has 56 cosponsors in the Senate, including 10 Republicans, including veterans John Warner and Chuck Hagel.

To reason, indeed, he was not in the habit of attending. His mode of arguing, if it is to be so called, was one not uncommon among dull and stubborn persons, who are accustomed to be surrounded by their inferiors. He asserted a proposition; and, as often as wiser people ventured respectfully to show that it was erroneous, he asserted it again, in exactly the same words, and conceived that, by doing so, he at once disposed of all objections. - Macaulay, "History of England," Vol. 1, Chapter 6, on James II.

Bush and McCain people talk a lot about "supporting the troops," when what they really mean is supporting the war. The troops are expendable pawns in their New World Order.

61 votes would mean being able to defeat a filibuster. With 10 Republican cosponsors and both Independent senators -- Sanders and Lieberman -- cosponsoring, that number is within reach.

Then Bush would have to veto. As a matter of fact, an overriding 2/3 majority in both Houses of Congress is not beyond the bounds of the possible.

The reason he and his neocon buddies do not want to support this is because it is looked upon by themn as an exit benefit, and to be honest, they do not want troops to leave. They want to keep them their as long as possible to die in their wars.

Webb supports a lot of things. I don't know his position on hate speech legislation.

I'll have to look it up.
