John Edwards Endorsing Obama Tonight: Speculation Grows

The Huffington Post | May 14, 2008 03:43 PM

The Obama campaign has announced a "major national endorsement" for a rally tonight at 7pm in Michigan, and the rumor mill is swirling that it is none other than Sen. John Edwards. Time's Mark Halperin is teasing as much at his Web site, with a photo of Edwards and the text, "Ready to choose? Ready to hope?"

Edwards has certainly dropped some hints in recent days. He's chided Hillary Clinton over her comments about race, said he can't figure out how Clinton could ever win the nomination, and even said he planned to endorse the person he voted for in North Carolina's primary, using (it seems) the word "him."

On the other hand, in an interview with People magazine, Edwards said of Obama, "Sometimes I want to see more substance under the rhetoric."

He see'd it, he see'd it..........BOH is back to wearing his flag lapel; that proves he is a substantial patriot.

Turn your back on the sun and you only see the shadows.

John Edwards is apparently on a plane flying to Michigan right now.

To reason, indeed, he was not in the habit of attending. His mode of arguing, if it is to be so called, was one not uncommon among dull and stubborn persons, who are accustomed to be surrounded by their inferiors. He asserted a proposition; and, as often as wiser people ventured respectfully to show that it was erroneous, he asserted it again, in exactly the same words, and conceived that, by doing so, he at once disposed of all objections. - Macaulay, "History of England," Vol. 1, Chapter 6, on James II.

At least 67% of the voters in the Georgia primary seem not to have agreed with you.

Edwards's flight is now over Ohio, by the way.

Obama only won by 36% in Georgia, a Republican state by the way. Hillary won by 41% in a Democrat state.

In the general election if Huckabee is on the ticket then Georgia will go with McCain, I guarantee it.

God is always good!

If everybody's a racist (according to you), that's not exactly an insult.

Now here's the $64 question: Will Obama select Edwards as his VP? He could do worse. Best thing about Edwards is that he's been through the campaign wringer, so there's no chance of any Eagleton style embarassing things to come up and bite his ticket in the butt.

Yep. Plus they need him for the stupid white people vote. Much discussion over this lost demographic and Obama can't connect... enter the Breck Girl.

Here's how the Breck Girl comment began.

John Edwards And The Case Of The "Breck Girl" Comment

Posted by Brian Montopoli| 9

(CBS)In 2003, as Greg Sargent notes, the New York Times anonymously quoted a "Bush associate" calling John Edwards "the Breck Girl of politics.” Now the Times' Adam Nagourney is expressing regret for helping the unnamed "associate" spread the slur. "Our story may have had the result of not only previewing what the Bush campaign intended to do, but, by introducing such memorably biting characterizations into the political dialogue, helping it," he writes.

Former 2008 presidential candidate John Edwards was often mockingly referred to as the "Breck Girl" by conservative radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh

Wikipedia.

However the phrase originated, it is a phrase of Limbaugh's. As I said.
