Two news articles recently appeared in their respective newspapers.

Both articles deal with the same news story but the difference in the way that the stories were written is significant.

The first article makes it clear that the aliens who attempted to procure driver's licenses through fraud were from so-called "special interest countries," that is to say, countries that are linked to terrorism. The second article describes these aliens as coming from "New Jersey!"

I know that New Jersey may seem to be an unusual state for folks from other parts of the country, but in point of fact, New Jersey is, in fact one of our nation's 50 states. The illegal aliens did, obviously travel from New Jersey to New Mexico, but it is curious that the author of the second article attempted to ignore the fact that the individuals who attempted to obtain driver's licenses through fraud were, illegal aliens.

Of course it is extremely important to consider the fact that these aliens traveled nearly across the entire country to seek to obtain those licenses. The issue is that thanks to Governor Richardson, DMV in New Mexico does not take immigration status into account where the issuance of driver's licenses is concerned. The oft-quoted statement from the movie "A Field of Dreams" is, "If you build it they will come." In that film the reference was to a ball park and the "they" refers to patrons wanting to watch a baseball game. In the case of driver's licenses you could say, "If you offer the licenses, they will come." In this case "they" refers to illegal aliens.

The really significant issue in this news story is the fact that the FBI was involved in this case and the aliens were identified as being from "special interest countries." Additionally, the fact that one of the leaders of this criminal conspiracy was a citizen of Brazil. There have been numerous reports about terrorist training camps operating in the "Tri-border" region of Brazil that have been training terrorists from the Middle East. In noting these factors I am simply speculating on the potential that these individuals may have any association with the training camps in Brazil. However, the fact that the FBI has joined the investigation and the fact that at least a number of the aliens involved have been identified as being from "Special Interest" countries, makes it reasonable to consider such possibilities. I would also be interested to know if the 8 illegal aliens from Brazil were natives of Brazil or had either naturalized in Brazil or if they had simply been able to acquire Brazilian passports by bribing passport officials. This then begs the obvious question, if any of the 8 who were identified as being from Brazil had not been born in Brazil, were they from "Special Interest" countries?

It is also important to pay attention to the way that the ring leaders of this organization used computers and presumably desk-top publishing to crank out phoney documents to support false claims to United States citizenship. This is also a way that fraud rings also provide identity documents to a wide variety of illegal aliens and would, no doubt, be the way that fraud rings would attempt to assist illegal aliens to obtain amnesty should the Senate or Congress attempt to push for such an amnesty program after the upcoming elections.

I have, on occasion, made the point that you can tell a bad guy from a good guy because when a "good guy" gets up in the morning, he goes through his belongings to decide on what he wants to wear, while a "bad guy" often goes through his belongings to decide who he wants to be that day!

If the aliens in question were concealing their immigration status, it should be a foregone conclusion that they would also attempt to conceal their true names in applying for those driver's licenses, especially if they knew that they had criminal histories or that their true names might appear on terrorist watch lists.

These are the concerns that resulted in the passage of the Patriot Act. It is known that the terrorists who attacked our nation on September 11, 2001 used numerous false names, variations of those false names, and obtained driver's licenses to act as "breeder" documents, enabling them to create entire fictitious identities based on the driver's licenses they were able to procure through fraud.

In this day and age, a driver's license does far more than convey the authority of the bearer to operate a motor vehicle, it also is of vital significance by acting as a de facto national identity document.

I commend the dedicated employees of the DMV in New Mexico for their proficiency. The good guys certainly won this round. But some questions remain. How did those aliens who were apprehended during this investigation initially enter the United States? Did other "Special Interest" aliens availed themselves of the "services" of this fraud ring? If so, how many and where are they now? How many more such rings are operating and not only in New Mexico but in other states that provide driver's licenses to aliens irrespective of their immigration status?

Both newspaper articles made the editorial decision to refer to the illegal aliens as being "Illegal Immigrants."

If there is to be an honest discourse about immigration then the language we use must be legally accurate and factually honest. As I have often stated, the difference between an immigrant and an illegal alien is the equivalent of the difference between a houseguest and a burglar. The legal definition of an alien, as defined by the Immigration and Nationality Act, is simply being any person who is not a citizen or national of the United States. When we, as Americans, travel to other countries, we are generally referred to by the governments of those other countries as being aliens. I am unaware of any other country that has a problem with this term. It is not a pejorative but is an accurate term.

Each and every day, thousands of illegal aliens run our nation's borders and manage to enter our country through ports of entry. Stop and think about the amount of destruction wrought by just 19 terrorists on September 11, 2001. In the game of "Hide and Seek" where ICE special agents are concerned, the illegal aliens often succeed in hiding (in plain sight among us) because there are far too few special agents available to seek them out. This represents a threat to our nation's security and it is critical that this issue be addressed, yet more than 6 years after the attacks of 9/11 this huge vulnerability is still not being addressed and none of the three candidates for the Presidency are even discussing this issue and all of its ramifications on so many aspects of our nation, beginning with national security and ultimately additionally involving such important issues as criminal justice, the economy, the environment, health care and education.

Illegal immigration and its effects that ripple through our country is not a Republican issue or a Democrat issue: It is an American issue!

There have been numerous reports about terrorist training camps operating in the "Tri-border" region of Brazil that have been training terrorists from the Middle East.

Are there really such things as terror training camps? I mean really, what kind of boot camp would a suicide bomber need? And what kind of bomb maker would work out of a place that can or has been tagged a "terrorist training camp"?

Nah, the only way such a place exists is if some state intelligence agency creates it.

I shall not vote for evil, lesser or otherwise.

Absolutely!!!! ...that is, if the playing field were level.

But the oligarchs have planned ahead very carefully about the electoral process to ensure that we only have 2 party choices, both of which are so sold out/bought out by special interests that they are more alike than different and therefore represent no credible choice at all.

The only way a Third Party can win is if they are funded by an AmericaFirst Billionaire and I don't see that happening any day soon. Also the Usual Suspects' 6 family control of mainstream media would need to be broken by the FCC - yet another fantasy.

The only way a Third Party can win …

Just a hypothetical – what if the “third party” was the military field grade brass that finally got tired of fighting other peoples wars, while leaving their own country with wide open borders and millions of invaders surging in, with nothing more than a handful of men armed with pistols trying to stem the tide.

This is about the only way I see out of this mess. It's no wonder why they're pouring non-Americans into the military.
