LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - Barack Obama stands at the brink of victory in the Democratic presidential race. He has defeated Hillary Rodham Clinton in the Oregon primary and is within 100 delegates of the total needed to claim the top prize at the party convention this summer.

He told cheering supporters at a rally in Iowa that they had put him within reach of the nomination. Iowa is the overwhelmingly white state that launched the black, first-term senator from Illinois on his improbable path to victory last January.

And John McCain won the Oregon primary as well on the Republican side.

That's surprising. I thought for sure Ron Paul would have it. :)

Oregon in thirds?

Looks like. Typically, its "Eastern Oregon" and "Portland + Eugene" and "Everyone else" when it comes election time.

Right at this moment, it's much closer than I expected. Well, we'll just have to wait to analyze beyond the slice and dice demographics we are usually fed. I really expected an early 'mandate'.

Isn't that one of RP's highest "official" showings in primary elections (as opposed to caucuses)?

Ron Paul got 16% in Pennsylvania.

Have you noticed how after Mad Mac got enough delegates to secure the nomination, RP's numbers suddenly go up by 8-10% in every primary?

As far as I'm concerned, I cast a vote against McLame.

14% is great considering Ron Paul has received a 99% media blackout.
