Yes, it was MY turn today. Whoopeee......

First of all, I damn near forgot it. I have so tuned out to political ads/signs/etc., and most all the nooz, as well. If it hadn't been for cutting out my Dad's obituary, I wouldn't have seen the picture of the local Sheriff who is up for re-election.

That I did remember; and seeing as how I like the old coot, I hied myself down to the local American Legion Post hall to vote.

Of course, I know how this primary bullcrappy works--you can vote ONLY a STRAIGHT TICKET...............ah yes, but lovely ladies, you don't have to vote for every single office.........now, do ya?

There was a gentle man ahead of me quietly lamenting that he could only vote one side or the other--apparently he knows 2 people from 2 different sides of the aisle ballot and wanted to vote for each of them.

Me? I didn't much give a damned, so I lamented I had to pretend to be one or the other of two totally unacceptable parties. I ended by saying something like, "well, just so everyone don't go around associating me with one or the other of these two"........there were lots of smiles around the room.

In the privacy of my own little 'booth' thingie, I quickly found RON PAUL and made the blackest, darkest, biggest filled in oval possible!!! I ignored that senate and representative crap at the federal level.......found my original vet's name to be re-elected county commissioner, and two state reps and state senator to vote for...then I was done. All the rest of the offices/candidates meant nothing to me.

Meanwhile, I stood up and looked for the "Machine".......they pointed me towards the monster. I got to stick the ballot in it....the lady said, 'one moment please'; looked at the printout at the top; asked me my name and said, 'well Miz ___________, your votes have been accepted'.

All these gals are pretty good ladies.......and they laughed and smiled. I'm sure some, if not all, don't care for the practices which the two headed monster of a political system thrust on us, the sheeple. There well may be even a couple that might realize the vote system is rigged.

Oh yeah.........I most certainly did vote for the old coot of a sheriff! :)

I'm sorry to hear about your dad. If he was anything like you then I'm sure he is in paradise now.

Oh I didn't realize Idaho had a primary today. I know it feels good voting for Ron Paul. I had to do it on a Diebold machine in Georgia, but still felt good about it even though I am uncertain if my vote was counted.

God is always good!

I keep smiling to myself, Ricky........by voting I put my name on the list of prospective jurors for the county. :)

Let's see.......in the past, I've told the judge that frankly my opinion of lawyers would preclude me from ever sitting on a jury; and then, because of Dad's advanced age and health, I was spared the jury room.

But now...........oh man, so long as they don't ask me if I believe in jury nullification, I think I can get on juries!

That should be more fun than voting! For sure...

I'm sure you'd make a wonderfully compassionate Foreman of a jury, dee, especially at the trials of child molesters or rapists...

Thank you, chrissie, for your kind words. Ya know, our minds can tell us that given his age and the fact that we ALL will die at some time, you're never quite totally prepared. That his passed on Mothers Day evening (as did my maternal grandmother, BTW), adds to a melancholy.

But life goes on. My next big challenge is when I decide 'today is the day to start going through all his 'things'"....we'll see how that pans out.

Molesters and rapers...........hmmmmm, I think I'd rather be the executioner on those cases--I still remember how to castrate calves and lambs--I would imagine the human (?) male would be a bit more interesting--considering they would/should actually know what is about to be done to them......complete with 'hors' douvres' being shoved down their throats as the appetizers for the big celebratory party!

Yeah.....that would be interesting. Geeze, we could even run a pool over who we think would be the ones to tremble and quake and shit their pants, or plead for mercy like their victims.
