VA Secretary James Peake continued to show little respect for the service of America's newest veterans yesterday by dismissing concerns about the effects of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and traumatic brain injury (TBI) in troops returning from Iraq and Afghanistan.

Speaking alongside Senator Ted Stevens (R-AK) in a remote Alaskan village, Peake first used the word "overblown" when discussing PTSD and TBI and then made a "football" comparison.

Sounds like VA Sec'ty Peake is a victim of too many football injuries to the noggin'.

Who does this moron think he is fooling?

Even the rubes in Americaland know that our young soldiers are suffering post- traumatic stress disorder.

VA Secty Peake should volunteer to fight on the front lines of Iraq for 18 months or so to test out his theory.

If he comes back with no signs of stress or having 24/7 nightmares, I'll give his "overblown" theory some consideration.

They just dont want to pay the disability claims.

Compare their conduct to the Madison Ave recruiting ads, where they make it look so exciting, patriotic, and adventurous. I hate ad execs. They are just as bad as televangelists.

I hope todays kids will continue to see through that crap and stay away in droves.

But of course.

And they don't want to admit to Americans that their children - if they sign up for the military - are going to come back broken mentally if not physically. According to stats I read elsewhere, the vast majority of PTSD in soldiers are cases where these soldiers have killed someone. Taking 18 year olds and turning them into emotionless killing machines with no conscience does not happen over night ( and thankfully so).
