(Daily Utah Chronicle) (UWIRE) SALT LAKE CITY -- While on the campaign trail, Barack Obama demonstrated how he would use a presidential bully pulpit if elected. Obama's mainly black crowd in Beaumont, Texas, experienced a dose of Obama Tough Love as he told parents they need to shape up.

"It's not good enough for you to say to your child, 'Do good in school,' and then when that child comes home, you got the TV set on, you got the radio on, you don't check their homework, there is not a book in the house, you've got the video game playing," he said. "So turn off the TV set, put the video game away. Buy a little desk or put that child by the kitchen table. Watch them do their homework. If they don't know how to do it, give them help. If you don't know how to do it, call the teacher. Make them go to bed at a reasonable time. Keep them off the streets. Give 'em some breakfast. Come on ... you know I am right."

I do know he is right. Parents should be parents, and this advice is common sense. He goes on to say that parents should stop letting their kids grow fat eating Popeye's Chicken for breakfast and drinking four to five cans of soda per day with no exercise.

"Children have to have proper nutrition," Obama said. "That affects also how they study, how they learn in school."

I don't object to anything he is saying. What I object to is that he thinks it is his job as a presidential candidate to give parenting advice. And worse, that he thinks it is the role of government to step into citizens' houses and tell them how to handle their lives. The government is not the answer to everything.

He is just another guy in a long line of politicians who feel that every aspect of American life should be regulated. What else is he going to want to regulate if elected? Already in New York City, trans-fats have been banned. If you happen to live in New Orleans, it might soon be illegal to serve an obese person fast food. Liberals and the Democratic Party want big government. Big government entails having a one-size-fits-all answer for everything.

With nationalized health care you will be told what kind of treatment you can get if you are sick. Obama and the Democrats want to raise taxes so they can decide what happens to your hard-earned money. In California they are trying to tell the citizens how warm or cool house temperatures can be. You will have no choice in the kind of car you drive, no choice in schools, gun control, how large your carbon footprint can be and, of course, fees for not recycling.

Soon, before stepping outside without a hat on because you might develop skin cancer, you will have to ask permission from a welfare state government fat with power.

One of Alinsky's methods is to first tell people that they aren't living up to their own standards.

This is how egos are deflated to make people more malleable and ripe for being 'organized'.

Once an 'organizer' gets them to that spot, the people who have been deflated then look to the organizer for a solution. Once the group starts looking to the 'organizer' for solutions, the organizer then molds the unruly mob into a controlled group and sends them on a mission.

In this case, Obama is telling them 'I am the answer' as opposed to turning them loose on something else. He is also using classic Alinsky training in showing the mob that it is an 'unresponsive government' that is what is causing them issues. What is the solution to this "unresponsive government" you ask? Why, it is Obama himself. Note he delivers no solutions and no answers other than 'Vote Obama and all will be cured'.

There is a reason Obama called his years of being a 'community organizer' the "Best education I ever got".

The stuff works. Go buy a copy of _Rules for Radicals_ and you can line it up almost one-to-one with the Obama campaign.

Everyone on 4um who is interested in the 'hows and whys' of what is going on with the Obama campaign should read that and Obama's own books.

As a side note, the Ron Paul campaign DID just what Alinsky recommended. In 1968, when Alinsky was approached and asked what went wrong with the Democrat convention, Alinsky told them to stop complaining about the delegates and instead, to BE the delegates. Thus, in 1972, the DNC birthed the campaign of McGovern.

Notice how the Paul supporters are running around everywhere trying to become the delegates to the RNC convention?

Take note, people. These tactics work. Learn the hows and whys of them so you can recognize when they are being used on you and when an 'organizer' is trying to manipulate you.

Yes!!! Good god almighty, they fled the scene once we identified the countless flaws in their logic and candidate. Some will return for a bare knuckle fight as the process gets closer. Singing kumbuya by the camp fire is for political twits :P
