McClellan May Be the Everyman That Breaks the Neocon's Back

One of the pleasures of watching Scott McClellan is his sheer ordinariness. In the era of West Wing, the meritocracy, and the "overclass" (my new favorite expression, thank you Samuel Freedman), McClellan is an ordinary Joe. He's pudgy and not all that smart. He's also genuine and honest and likeable. His great achievement already is taking a truth well-known to us pointy-heads on the internet, that the war was waged not for WMD but for "ideology," and bringing it home. Paul Wolfowitz admitted as much in Vanity Fair years ago. Glenn Kessler and George Packer and Richard Clarke stated as much in their books. Walt and Mearsheimer showed us the intellectual scaffolding.

I was always amazed that Americans had tolerated that great hoodwinking. But all those guys are intellectuals writing in the end about policy. Comes now McClellan, an ordinary guy who has a noble reason for his betrayal, and we all want to hear his story. That personal tale is bringing the point home in a simple affecting way. For a good story is more compelling than any investigation (let alone any great theory; check this one out). At long last, the chickens are coming home to roost. Before long the networks will be doing features on the neoconservatives, and the president and reporters that loved them. Next stop, the Hague.

Two discouraging thoughts (not meant to deter our efforts, but rather to remind people of what's ahead):

  1. I doubt McClellan has new information here.
  2. The pro-war crowd is saying he's just got sour grapes.
The fight for the truth to be accepted has just begun, really.

Sink? Heck the SSCheney is not only afloat but boiler pressure is up and full speed ahead.

So now the Dems etc are reduced to relying upon a former Repub press flack for their ammo?

Not to mention the naivete of a pressflack like Scottie WTF did he think his job was except to lie, obfuscate, distract, disparage, deny, deflect and discredit.

Listen, I'm sure he means well, and did have a real crisis of conscience.

But, what does that matter.

It's a testament to the utter vacousness and bankruptness of the Democrats that they actually need a Scottie to go after the Klingons in the WH. That's IF they're for real which they're not, because if they were, the 2006 election victory shoulda been all they needed to start holding hearings and making noise and providing us proles entertainment.

But, they took a pass.

Pathetic, cowardly frauds. A frigging squirrel has more balls than the Dems.

He's pudgy and not all that smart.

This will greatly offend his momma, former Austin Mayor Carole Keeton McClelland Rylander Strayhorn (Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young).

I was living in Austin at the time she was mayor and she was hosting a local cable access show. I remember one night she proudly announced that her very, very brilliant son had just been named a National Merit Scholar. I believe it was Scott, although it might have been one of the other ones. There's another one named Mark whom the Chimp appointed to the FDA and to oversee Medicare.

At any rate, there's no doubt Scott's pudgy, but I wouldn't call him stupid.

In retrospect, it was stupid to work for the Chimp, but that goes back to when Scott and Mark's momma switched to the GOP and became surgically attached to Chimpy's tail, as did everyone else in Texas who wanted to get anywhere in the party.
