There's a lot of talk out there. We're not the only cynics.

Poster Comment:

You got a lot of money, but you can't afford the freeway
The road to Orange County leaves an awful lot of leeway
Where everyone's a doctor or a specialist in retail
They'll sell you all the speed you want if you can take the blackmail

You know it
I know it
Why don't you
Just show it?
You got a lot of money, but you can't afford the freeway
You got a lot of money, but you can't afford the freeway

You got a lot of money, but you cannot keep your bills paid
The sacrifice is worth it just to hang around the arcade
You found yourself a prophet, but you left him on the boardwalk
Another chocolate Easter bunny, hollowed out by your talk

You know it
I know it
Why don't you
Just show it?
You got a lot of money, but you can't afford the freeway
You got a lot of money, but you can't afford the freeway

And everything I do is wrong
But at least I'm hanging on

You got a lot of money, but you can't afford
You got a lot of money, but you can't afford
You got a lot of money, but you can't afford the freeway
You got a lot of money, but you can't afford the freeway

You might be the only one here who can understand this, FF.

Definately a California song. I might have to see if I can get that albumn. I did get Apocalyptica's "I'm Not Jesus".

Hence it is that such democracies have ever been spectacles of turbulence and contention; have ever been found incompatible with personal security or the rights of property; and have in general been as short in their lives as they have been violent in their deaths. Theoretic politicians, who have patronized this species of government, have erroneously supposed that by reducing mankind to a perfect equality in their political rights, they would, at the same time, be perfectly equalized and assimilated in their possessions, their opinions, and their passions.
James Madison

Good song... definitely Calli.

Californians

So as not to be outdone by all the redneck, hillbilly, and Texan jokes, somebody had to come up with this, you know you're from California if:

1. Your coworker has 8 body piercings and none are visible.

2. You make over $300,000 and still can't afford a house.

3. You take a bus and are shocked at two people carrying on a conversation in English.

4. Your child's 3rd-grade teacher has purple hair, a nose ring, and is named Flower.

5. You can't remember . . is pot illegal?

6. You've been to a baby shower that has two mothers and a sperm donor.

7. You have a very strong opinion about where your coffee beans are grown, and you can taste the difference between Sumatran and Ethiopian.

8. You can't remember . . . is pot illegal?

9. A really great parking space can totally move you to tears.

10. Gas costs $1.00 per gallon more than anywhere else in the U.S.

11. Unlike back home, the guy at 8:30 am in Starbucks wearing a baseball cap and sunglasses who looks like George Clooney really IS George Clooney.

12. Your car insurance costs as much as your house payment.

13. You can't remember . . .is pot illegal?

14. It's barely sprinkling rain and there's a report on every news station: "STORM WATCH."

15. You pass an elementary school playground and the children are all busy with their cells or pagers.

16. It's barely sprinkling rain outside, so you leave for work an hour early to avoid all the weather-related accidents.

17. HEY!!!! Is pot illegal????

18. Both you AND your dog have therapists, psychics, personal trainers and cosmetic surgeons.

19. The Terminator is your governor.

20. If you drive illegally, they take your driver's license. If you're here illegally, they want to give you one .

There was a time when Kali was a paradise. Immigration and 1,000 other things have hollowed it right out, just like the Easter bunny in the song. Hollywood fairly radiates cultural pollution. The big farms eating up the small ones, banks at their sides, are the ones who have steadily brought in more and more Mexican laborers. Freeways were built when California was still a western state. Now it's Asian and Mestizo. And let's not forget the LBC.

Tell it brutha. It's already a war zone on every level. The land of milk and honey is no more. Not that the Californias haven't tried to turn it around. The 9th Circuit .. ensures the master agenda moves forward.

Makes me think of this song:

Natalie Merchant - San Andreas Fault

Go west Paradise is there You'll have all that you can eat Of milk and honey over there

You'll be the brightest star The world has ever seen Sun-baked slender heroine Of film and magazine

Go west Paradise is there You'll have all that you can eat Of milk and honey over there

You'll be the brightest light The world has ever seen The dizzy height of a jet-set life You could never dream

Your pale blue eyes Strawberry hair Lips so sweet Skin so fair

Your future bright Beyond compare It's rags to riches Over there

San Andreas Fault Moved it's fingers Through the ground Earth divided Plates collided Such an awful sound

San Andreas Fault Moved it's fingers Through the ground Terra cotta shattered And walls came Tumbling down

O promised land O wicked ground Build a dream Tear it down

O promised land What a wicked ground Build a dream Watch it fall down

Buckeye,

Too many pieces were in motion long before we could possibly have known the game. We're where we are by design. It is now we are presented with the test.

Yes, and my point in posting stories about early settlers is meant to show that we would not have what we have today if they had not passed incredibly stringent tests before us. Our turn is coming, as well. To ignore that is to accept the gifts they've given us without honor.

Excellent point, well said, and I truly appreciate the stories very much.

Not to be cute here, but when grappling with perspective, Don McClean referred to us as 'a generation lost in space'. American Pie. Another who was trying to tell us a thing or three 30 years ago. Of the millions of chessmoves to get us to this point, we're on the fast-track now.
