Former Democratic White House candidate John Edwards said he has no desire to stand as Barack Obama's running mate in the US presidential race, in an interview published in Spain Friday. "I have already been a candidate for vice president in 2004. I want to work hard for the campaign, but the vice presidency is not a position that I desire," he told the newspaper Vanguardia in comments published in Spanish.

Edwards, a two-time presidential hopeful, was John Kerry's running mate in the 2004 elections won by George W. Bush.

Last month, he formally endorsed Obama as the Democratic candidate for the November election, four months after dropping out of the race himself.

The former North Carolina senator was in Madrid on Friday as part of a European tour, where he met with Spain's Socialist Prime Minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero.

Edwards perhaps does not want to be part of a losing effort one more time.

Why that's incredible Cyni, you mean... McCain is thinking of asking Edwards to run with him too? Politics is amazing, ain't it?

Incredible would be McKooK/Clinton but it would be a sure winner.

McKooK/Clinton

Sure winner.

If Obummer thinks for one minute that he can buy loyalty from Clinton by paying off her debts he is sadly mistaken.

Refuse to pay her debts and it would be fatal, pay her debts and take a 50/50 chance.

Look for Obama to go public with a glowing personal lovefest for Clinton. He has no other choice. Boot licking time for Obummer.

If Obama picks Hillary as his running mate, that just about guarantees an "accidental" death, "suicide," or scapegoat imprisonment for him. Hillary feels entitled to the Presidency, and the Clintons have a way of getting rid of and silencing people who stand in their way.

I read this the other day and do not know if figures are correct but...

Someone posted that 25% of Presidents have died in office, plus add to that the number of assassinations attempted and being President is not the safest job in the world.
