Around May of 1983, approximately 4 months before being shot down in KAL007, Congressman Larry McDonald takes on Pat Buchanan and Tom Braden on Crossfire as they badger him about his new role as Chairman of the John Birch Society. He easily handles them and answers questions concerning the Elite's Conspiracy for a One World Government.

Patrick Buchanan: it's not a conspiracy, it's a "herding instinct." That's a keeper (near the end of the video).

[JBS] Schlesinger's 1947 article in Partisan Review Mentioned by Dr. McDonald in Crossfire video

Robert and all,

Attached is a pdf of the 1947 Schlesinger article in Partisan Review that was mentioned by Larry McDonald in the Crossfire video.

Schlesinger’s 1947 article was inserted into the Congressional Record in 1961 by California Congressman John Rousselot, a member of the John Birch Society.

The pdf might be too large at about 1 MB to send through this Meetup Alliance group email system, but I’ll try. (I just tried and found that the pdf was too large to send through our group email)

I’ve also posted this pdf on our local Fox Valley http://JBS.org Meetup webpage at http://files.meetup.com/831413/Schlesinger1947Article.pdf .

And finally, I’ve posted a link to the pdf of this Schlesinger article on the Links page of the Resources section of our http://JBS.org Meetup Alliance at http://www.meetupalliance.com/JBS/resources/Links .

I don't know about that, Lod. Sometimes coincidences do happen. And I wouldn't describe the JBS as the last and only friend of freedom. They tend to silence members who criticize Jewish influence on American culture. This is probably done with the highest of ideals, but where does that leave the truth?

Ask them to stop speaking their minds at functions. I suppose they also threaten them with removal from the organization.

Eustace Mullins says the JBS was founded and funded by the Rockefellers for a reason, so that they would have a listing of "right wing Americans" and the ability to know all about them.

I think Mullins makes a good case for the JBS having funding from the same Northeastern Elite, as he calls them.

Have you noticed a tendency toward dominionism in their upper ranks? Even then...

I've met few other ex-Birchers, they say the same things. My question, as always, is why join anything? I'm still on the lam from the record club people, fourteen records for a dollar my ass, I knew there was a catch.

McDonald was a cousin to General Patton who also met an "untimely death"

After taking over at JBS, McDonald had some kind of a working arrangement with the German Gehlen group.

Complete agreement here. I was actually reluctant to join 4. I thought the whole attack on Larry McDonald's tendency to join organizations (was it 70 or something?) was hilarious.

(Western Goals Foundation).

WGF was created by McDonald and once he was gone, it was disbanded.

Gehlen was hired by CIA after WW2.

He was a genius at taking bits, pieces, and scraps of useless information and making it into masterful intelligence.

As the war wound down, all General officers would revert to their permanent rank, Ike would have been subordinate to Patton.

He had a specialty and a focus on the Eastern front, according to en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reinhard_Gehlen

This could explain why the JBS liked him.

If you ever read the book about Reinhard Gehlen you will find he was a master of intelligence, not so much as spying, rather adding 2 plus 2 and getting five for an answer.

Example..After WW2 the Russians came up with a new aluminum alloy for aircraft production that we did not have. The US wanted it very badly and was willing to go to great lengths to find the formula. Money was no object.

Gehlen knew there had been thousands of German POWS that had returned from Russia long after the war. Most of whom had been slave laborers in Russian factories and mines. He sent his people to scouring Germany looking for these former POWS asking questions for any information they might have.

One said he had worked in the factory where the metal was made but knew nothing of its composition. During a long interrogation at his home, he suddenly rose, went to the kitchen and brought back a stained metal soupbowl. During his worke there he had made the bowl out of the very alloy we were looking for. Over time it became so stained one did not know it was the alloy, when he was released he asked to take his soupbowl home with him and the Russians agreed, not knowing what it was made of.

Gehlen gave our military not a formula but an actual piece of the metal for analysis.

More than you wanted to know, but it was history.

Not to defend Buchanan but one way to listen to his commentary is that he is explaining the mind of the middle class American voter. That is 100% correct, in that many do believe that the surge has worked and that we should finish the war. They may be voting for Obama with the same thing in mind. I don't think Buchanan agrees with this sentiment. But yes, he is hard to pin down.

Buchanan is debating april maddow(sp?) from Air America and he starts going on automatic pilot, spouting neocon talking points supporting the war. One day previous he'll be spouting the ron Paul line about how this is an undeclared illegal war for empire. this seals it, (actually it was obvious in 04 when he endorsed boosh) Buchanan is a completely incredible empty suit kook.

Patrick Buchanan: it's not a conspiracy, it's a "herding instinct."

Control is an illusion; in this sense, Pat's exactly right.

N.B. By definition, a behaviorist cannot be a conspiracy theorist. I have to agree that conspiracy is not necessary to an explanation of the observables. Intent is irrelevant.
