Title: TSA outlaws flights to those who refuse to show ID, allows those that "forgot" them

ver since TSA's creation after 9/11, passengers willing to undergo a pat-down and hand-search have been able to fly without ID. This rarely discussed, and little used right was documented by the courts in Gilmore v. Gonzales. While mostly just a way to assert your rights, the technique often had the added benefit of allowing the traveler to skip to the front of the security line.

With little warning, on Thursday, TSA announced a new change in policy. Passengers who refuse to show ID, citing the rights, will be refused entry to the boarding area. Passengers who claim to have lost or forgotten their ID will still be allowed to fly.

This new rule seems to only apply to terrorists that are unable to lie, while at the same time, massively cutting into the rights of passengers.

Soaring gas prices make refusing to fly a difficult choice. If I had to go to Texas for instance, it would cost me about $400 in gas one way, not to mention all the meals and tolls along the way.

Now, if I did choose to fly, I would have to submit to all sorts of scrutiny and voluntarily give up many of my rights, which I just won't do. It's almost as if they are trying to make it impossible for people like me to travel about the country.

I shall not vote for evil, lesser or otherwise.

Airfares should have tripled by now. That's been making me wonder of late. When things go exactly the opposite way they should, treachery is usually afoot.

Subsidized by the tourism industry? Other cities might be taking a lesson from Las Vegas. Those flights have always been cheap.

Why not spend a few hundred dollars, when that sucker will drop $1000+?

Now your catching on. That is exactly what they are doing. They are boiling the frog slowly.

You already have to have advance clearance permission to fly out of the country or in.

Next step is advance clearance permission to travel internally.

Welcome to the USSA.

That will make their choke points out of the cities so much easier to enforce.

I bet that if domestic travel was verboten without papieren, the sheep would not even bleat.

I would almost be worth it to let the sheep get what is coming to them, and when they are out of the way, or the elite are weakened by them, to strike. I think that is a great strategy.

I have a hard time sympathizing with sheep lately.

You got it, OI.

What the neocons are doing now, they learned from their Communist forefathers - the greatly feared NKVD.

The system of internal passports along with sealing borders "during national crisis" was first tested out to great success on the Ukrainians.

www.mfa.gov .ua/norway/en/publication/content/18530.htm

...The NKVD and a system of internal passports prevented peasants from leaving their villages...At the height of the famine Ukrainians were dying at a rate of 25,000 per day. Nearly 1 in 4 rural Ukrainians perished as a direct result.

www.vdare.com/misc/ 051105_macdonald_stalin.htm

...During the 1930s, Slezkine reports, the secret police, now known as the NKVD, “was one of the most Jewish of all Soviet institutions”, with 42 of the 111 top officials being Jewish. At this time 12 of the 20 NKVD directorates were headed by ethnic Jews, including those in charge of State Security, Police, Labor Camps, and Resettlement (deportation)...

Buy an old motorcycle. I did. My van gets 13mpg. I was stranded at home because I couldn't afford to go anywhere. Found a cheap old bike on Craigslist and now I get 50mpg.

They're trying to control us. Don't let them. If they think I'm going to stay put because gas is expensive they're crazy. Buy a motorcycle and enjoy the freedom to explore once again. It's liberating.

The van only gets to run when I'm working now. I'm saving a minimum of $50 a week on gas with the bike. It will have paid for itself in 4 months. You can do the same.

Hence it is that such democracies have ever been spectacles of turbulence and contention; have ever been found incompatible with personal security or the rights of property; and have in general been as short in their lives as they have been violent in their deaths. Theoretic politicians, who have patronized this species of government, have erroneously supposed that by reducing mankind to a perfect equality in their political rights, they would, at the same time, be perfectly equalized and assimilated in their possessions, their opinions, and their passions.

Buy an old motorcycle.

We bought an '85 Suzuki 700. We also have a Honda VTX 1800.

Funny thing is our Honda is American made while today's HDs are not.

The Volkswager, Jetta, Golf, or Passat with the "CDI Diesel" gets 30 to 40 MPG.

Audi offers the same engine.

You can buy a used VW with that engine for about 7 G's (or less if you pay cash and bargain hard).

A next generation TDI Diesel should begin hitting the streets this year.

If you contact the "Motorhead Messiah" he's a diesel specialist - if his "bolt on" kit will work on these engines you can add another 30 to 40 percent to the mileage with improved pick-up.

Thanks for the info and link OI.

Car is paid for, and I don't want another, but may have little choice. So, a 4WD bug for winter and a camel for summer should have a pretty good MPG average. ;) How many miles to a camel?

I think I'm going to have to learn to ride. The VTX is too much for me to handle but the Suzuki 700 would work.

The problem with living in a wet climate is that a bike is only usable about 5 months out of the year. I don't like riding in heavy rain. Although one would be useful for running errands and light grocery shopping.

There is even a little teardrop trailer that you can pull with a larger bike. I wouldn't try it with less than a 750 though.
