Title: Malik Obama confirms his half-brother Barack grew up a Muslim

Apparently the Obamas of Kenya have been reading those scurrilous emails to which Barack likes to refer, because they have no doubt -- contrary to the claims of the Obama campaign, that the presidential candidate was raised a Moslem. They take that as a given.

As the Jerusalem Post reports, "Barack Obama's half brother Malik said Thursday that if elected his brother will be a good president for the Jewish people, despite his Muslim background. In an interview with Army Radio he expressed a special salutation from the Obamas of Kenya."

The Obama brothers' father, a senior economist for the Kenyan government who studied at Harvard University, died in car crash in 1982. He left six sons and a daughter. All of his children - except Malik -- live in Britain or the United States. Malik and Barack met in 1985.

In a remarkable denial issued last November that still stands on the official campaign website, Obama spokesman Robert Gibbs issued a statement explaining that "Senator Obama has never been a Muslim, was not raised as a Muslim, and is a committed Christian."

Apparently Malik Obama, himself a Muslim, had not read the press release.

Melanie Phillips is the most recent commentator to draw attention to the massive body of evidence that leaves no doubt that Barak Hussein Obama was born a Muslim (Islam is patrilineal) and raised a Muslim (so registered in school, acknowledging attending Islamic classes, reported accompanying his step-father to the mosque, and able to recite the Koran in the original Arabic).

Reuven Koret, Aaron Klein and Daniel Pipes have previously pointed to the attempts by Obama and his campaign to conceal the candidate's Muslim background. The well documented evidence draws upon the on-the-ground interviews by researchers in Indonesia and Kenya, published quotations of Obama's childhood friends and his school records, as well as the candidate's own autobiography.

It is not clear whether Barack Obama will now disown his half-brother Malik, or throw him under the campaign bus, for acknowledging that shared family background. In any case, some one should notify "Fight the Smear" tout de suite. Perhaps they can get him with the program.

Poster Comment:

Instead of attacking the source we ought to come to grips with the fact that Mr Obama lies a lot.

To me, the "Obama is Islamic" scare is about as credible as the "Obama is a radical black Christian" scare. Neither bothers me. Why? Because I'm not voting for him anyway. He loves socialistic programs like universal healthcare.

It also doesn't matter to me that McCain wants our troops in Iraq until long after anyone on this forum dies. Why? Because I'm not voting for him EITHER.

I consider voting for most Republicans and Democrats to be worse than wasting my vote. By voting for them, I am saying, "OUCH! Please Sir, may I have another." Ron Paul was a notable exception -- I re-registered as a GOP, something I swore I would never do, to vote for him in the primary.

Therefore, I will be voting for Bob Barr come November because he is the candidate with the promise of individual liberty -- life, liberty and property - - Civil rights, property rights, smaller government, fiscal conservatism.

If you think this is wasting my vote, think about what shape government has been in for at least the last 20 years if not 60 with all those people not wasting their votes. Even if my vote doesn't result in a Barr Presidency, it will count as a NOTA vote in regards to the false choice of Obama or McCain.

So when exactly did we pass that amendment striking the word property from the due process clause of the fifth amendment?

No person shall be held to answer for a capital, or otherwise infamous crime, unless on a presentment or indictment of a Grand Jury, except in cases arising in the land or naval forces, or in the Militia, when in actual service in time of War or public danger; nor shall any person be subject for the same offense to be twice put in jeopardy of life or limb; nor shall be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself, nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation.

there it is in bold print. i get your point. the majority of government officials only invoke the constitution when it is politically or economically expedient to do so and for We the People, it's just a "GD'ed piece of paper."

welcome to 4um, Jeffersonish.

Thanks christine,

It took me a post or two to realize I needed to add some formatting to my tagline which must have seemed like a non-sequitor in relation to the rest of my post here. At any rate, I did mean that question about the fifth amendment to be rhetorical.

Thank you for your reference attributed to Bush about the Constitution being just a GD'ed piece of paper. I became a rabid activist for liberty not long BEFORE I read that one, but that and Gonzales' refutation of the right to habeas corpus, and the passing of the PATRIOT Act were things that stoked the fire of rebellion -- peaceful of course ;-) -- deep into my heart. I now realize how foolhardy we have been collectively to let the government gain more and more control not only during the Bush administration, but for the span of my lifetime and for many years prior.

And Thanks for the welcome -- Glad to be here.
