A 57 year old woman chaperoning a school field trip accidentally left a butter knife in her carry on bags for the trip home. According to TSA employees Cecilia Beaman is now a terrorist. No due process, no appeal, hell, they don’t even give her any paperwork or a receipt for the confiscated property. From the article: “You’ve committed a felony,” Beaman says a security screener announced. “And you’re considered a terrorist.” Beaman says she was told her name would go on a terrorist watch-list and that she would have to pay a $500 fine. “I’m a 57-year-old woman who is taking care of 37 kids,” she told them. “I’m not gonna commit a terrorist act.” Beaman says they took information from her Washington drivers license and confiscated and photographed the knife according to standard operating procedure. She says screeners refused to give her paperwork or documentation of her violation, documentation of the pending fine, or a copy of the photograph of the knife. “They said ‘no’ and they said it’s a national security issue. And I said what about my constitutional rights? And they said ‘not at this point … you don’t have any’.” I don’t know about you, but I don’t remember the part of the Constitution that says your rights don’t apply in airports. I’m pretty sure they didn’t have airports when the Constitution was written, so I don’t see how that would be possible. Despite that, through “federal regulations” they have decided that we can be subjected to any and every form of humiliating and degrading treatment. How long until you have to go through the airport naked? They’re already rolling out advanced x-ray machines that can see through our clothes. How much more of this are we going to take?

Citizens!! Quit flying on airlines!!! Send a message to the government, boycott commercial air travel.
The TSA violated their own rules. If this lady has not pleaded guilty, she has the "retirement" lawsuit.

That would be great, if these m'fers were held personally responsible, and the lawsuit judgement didnt come from my wallet.
You can hold them personally responsible if they are operating under Color Of Law. Assuming this is accurate, the moment the TSA agent said "You're guilty" that comes into play because the TSA screener is NOT a magistrate, judge, or military tribunal overlord. TSA rules clearly state that objects not permitted past security may be forfeited with no penalty OR you may exit security and snail-mail it to yourself. By acting as judge, jury, and executioner, the TSA agent can be held PERSONALLY liable. The Government itself does not even have to be involved in the case; this one can be limited to being a civil matter between the lady in question and the TSA agent who overstepped his authority.
